To all my African Hunting friends,

On 15 February 2026 my charming wife and I will hold an Open House with special guests Stuart Williams and his PH Rudi Nel of Talley-Ho Safaris, Limpopo South Africa. All are welcome even if you have no plans on ever hunting Limpopo. Come over and meet an exceptional gentleman Stuart and rock hard Rudi along with me and hopefully a couple dozen or more Africa hunters! We can tell stories of our hunts and adventures, and discuss rifles, loading ammunition, and shooting.

Location is 30 miles north of Detroit just outside a farming community. I will provide my address and phone number via DM. I hope all will be so kind as to contact me with a tentative or definite attendance (RSVP). I’d also like to have your phone numbers if you don’t mind.

The following I’m borrowing from @mdwest ,

“As a reminder... If you intend on swinging by this year and haven’t done so yet, even if you already know the address, please shoot me a PM and let me know you’re planning on coming by...

I’m trying to maintain a list of people attending so that we're sure to overdo it on food, drink, etc.. we definitely don’t want to plan for 30 and then end up needing to feed 50... I'd much prefer we plan for 50 and feed 50.. or plan for 50 and then have leftovers if only 30 show up ”

There will be food and refreshments to enjoy. You won't leave hungry.
If you want to bring along your favorite dangerous game rifle for show and tell that will be outstanding!

We haven’t decided on times but since this will be held on a Sunday, please tentatively plan on:

1 PM to 6 PM

15 February 2026

30 miles north of Detroit.

Please shoot me and/or @Tally-Ho HUNTING SAFARIS for details… I hope to put faces to many online friends.

These are my hunt reports of one of my Talley Ho safaris.
Note that I asked Stuart to host my sister in law's family from Johannesburg and he rolled out the read carpet! That was three years ago and the children are still talking about the "animals"!

Fantastic Mark - I would love to meet you as I’ve really enjoyed your posts and reports! Alas, it is a long commute from Alberta in February. If I can come up with an excuse to come to Michigan, I will!

Yes, that would be a long drive... Your post did however remind me that folks in southwest Ontario are a short drive. I live within a half hour drive of the Blue Water Bridge and not much further from the bridge between Windsor ON and Detroit.

I have all kinds of items laying around I can bring for door prizes. Maybe we should hold a swap meet. with all of our items we each have laying around.

I will donate some door prizes for sure.

Fantastic idea!

I hope all coming will bring whatever hunting and shooting stuff that they are tripping over. We all have some things like that, I know I do!

Guests can donate stuff for door prizes or trade with others for their stuff. It will be interesting!

All,
Our friend Ian from Montana Rifle Company ( @Imac45acp ) can't make it but will provide a MRC Tsavo in .375 H&H for a hands on evaluation by all!

Thanks so much for the kind words, Mark. We’re really looking forward to connecting with fellow hunting enthusiasts. Tallyho has been operating for 20 years as of 2025, and between myself and PH Rudi Nel, we bring over 30 years of hands-on hunting experience. It’s a great opportunity to talk all things hunting, ask questions, and get a real feel for what to expect from an African hunting safari — with plenty of stories and knowledge to share between all of us

Wow! This sounds great! I hope I can make it. Im in metro Detroit myself. The issue is I wont know my weekend schedule for work until Feb. Thanks for the invite.

Would love to come to this event. Meet other people with experience hunting Africa. I believe you have my number, I bought your CZ 458 lott but wilk DM you my phone #.
Thanks!

Mitch, we look forward to seeing you again!

For all, I have a dozen confirmed RSVPs. If you are anywhere close to my location a half hour north of Detroit, please consider attending. Bring your favorite rifle and we can compare what you have to what we have. It will be fun!

so looking forward to meeting all you guys, should be fun

You all have a great time, I would love to attend but it is a bit of a drive from AZ.

Mark I salute you for hosting the event.

Dave, it would be great to see you there. Hey look at it as building sky miles

Folks,

It is 15 days from the Open House for Tally Ho Safaris to be held at my home in southeast Michigan. I hope all within reasonable driving distance can attend.

Date: Sunday, 15 February 2026

Time: 1 to 6 PM

Location: Address to be provided via DM – 30 miles north of Detroit

Refreshments: Finger foods, sandwiches, and so on... my wife is figuring that out. Soft drinks, beer and wine in moderation.

Note: All are encouraged to bring their favorite Africa / Dangerous Game Rifle for show and tell and comparison. If you desire to handle rifles, please do so prior to consuming alcohol :)

I have a list of those who have communicated they will attend. I will send a DM reminder this weekend…

Folks,

This morning Ian of Montana Rifle Company confirmed that they would provide a MRC TSAVO .375 H&H for show and tell, and a little shooting on my backyard range!

Shooting this rifle will be limited and under very strick range procedures.
"On the firing line..." Fellow Marines will feel young again. Others will appreciate coming home with all their fingers and toes. A bunch of fellows who don't know each other playing with high powered rifles. What could possibly go wrong... :)

Ian may also provide another model of Montana Rifle, depending on what is available.

For anyone who desires to attend who has not yet confirmed, send me a Direct Message with your real name, phone number, and the number in your party, i.e. fellow hunters, wife or (but not and) girlfriend, sons and daughters... I will provide my address via DM.

I cleared snow off the range so we can shoot the Montana Rifle Company TSAVO!

Hello Mark.
It was a pleasure talking with you yesterday and I am looking forward to attending your event.
That being said, I will be driving over solo from the Sunset side of the mitten (Holland/Grand Haven area) and would welcome any fellow AH enthusiasts that would like to ride along. I have a crew cab pickup, so lots of room for 3-4 more.
Just let me know if you're interested and we can sort out the details.

I think you are the only person who has RSVP'd from the western side of the state.
If there are a lurker or two from west of Lansing that would like to meet fellow AH'er and a South African Safari operator, here's your chance! Contact @Racer00 and catch a ride with him!

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
