Minox Binoculars

My PH during a hunt in Africa had Minox Binocs. I don't know which model but he liked them and said they were durable. Does anybody have any thoughts on the brand and what model is best for hunting? It's very hard to find any reliable information on this brand in the USA. Thanks

I have used my Minox binoculars for about eight years now in the UK and Africa.
They are 10x40, compact, nice to use and have the usual rubberised outer.
If you look at any of my photos you will see them on my Cabelas harness. I barely know they're there in the bush.
The glass is very very good and reflects German quality in terms of clarity and construction.
I would have no problem recommending them or purchasing Minox products by way of a riflescope or binoculars.

I'm not familiar with the optics but my dad had one of their spy cameras and it took very good photographs- this was back in the day of film and the negatives were so small that they made 35mm look huge.

That's a solid review and what I have generally heard about them. In that price range (i.e.-like my Vortex Vipers) they seem to smoke all the other brands. I did a field comparison of my Vipers and a minox pair and it was not even close.

Minox has had several owners overs the years. Leica being one of them and currently the group that owns Blaser/Sauer/Rigby. The are located in Wetzler, home to Zeiss, Leica and others.

I have two sets of Minox binos, 8.5x43 HG's and 8x33 HG's (Japanese assembly). Both were acquired around 2008/9.

As I understand it, the Minox HG's I have used Schott glass with their own coatings. They are very decent Tier 2 binoculars. They are not as good as my Leica 10x42's or my Zeiss 8x32 Victory FL's but they are very respectable. What I liked most about the Minox was the warranty - when I bought them they had a lifetime no-questions asked warranty. That means a lot.

I still use mine for local hiking type stuff.

I have a pair and use them as my back up to my Leica. My only criticism is that they are very sensitive to the focus adjustment wheel (not sure of all the prop terminology). The slightly movement will cause them to loss focus quickly.

My 8x58's handle glare extremely well. Great for low light, but not as sharp as my Zeiss FL's.

My mate has Minox. He likes them. He has compared them against expensive models in the field and is still happy with the quality and value .
He spends a lot more on scopes than his bingos but they work for him.

I have Minox in 8x43hg had them for years I really like them kids broke a eye ring they sent replacement foc and have dropped them from a high seat and survived that.
