I hunted them twice. Once in 2015 with Yukkutz in the ag fields. Killed my turkey and some coatimundi. I was able to fly my frozen skins home. They had the paperwork done ahead of time. Then I was suppose to go with balam and hunt the jungle in 2020 but covid canceled it. 2021 was able to so the hunt with a $700 rescheduling fee even tho I didnt cancel it lol. Killed my turkey, guan, and male and female currosows, and a rodent. No paperwork done. All skins salted and stored in camp with no freezers. Taxidermist here said those salted skins sucked. The rodents hair slipped and they didnt send the skull. Balam was sold that year. I hope they have changed how they handle skins by now. Loved hunting in the high jungle and enjoyed my guide even tho he didnt speak English at all.

Yes I was there the first year they owned it. Half the people in camp were new owner customers and half were 2020 civil canceled customers of Alfredo the guy that sold it to mark Peterson aka wta. I messaged his guy in charge Sergio a couple times asking if they changed anything with the skin process and he ignored me.

I just finished my world slam about a month ago, while in camp a worker said he had a good snack that the camp staff was preparing as we speak, he said the animal is a rodent but really good. When they brought it out and we were eating it and he showed us a picture and i believe it was one of these, if so you had some good camp meat

To me crested guan is amazing. If I ever live somewhere warm enough to have birds like this in the back yard I will.

Probably never happen.

There is a couple of breeders in South Carolina.
