Man eaters of Tsavo…

Josh's shows are entertaining if you overlook some details.

I wonder if Man Eating Lions are a problem in Kenya again.
Maybe from the screwed up ecological balance, I don't know.

I wonder if besides the knife, he has a 375 H&H in his kit?

Wild life is decimated outside Parks in Kenya & the Parks look like fence less Zoos surrounded by Gosts, Cattle & Humanity which I’m sure poison any predator that dare leaves there boundary’s .

Maybe strayed in from Tanzania, Uganda or some War torn country near by, accustomed to eating displaced, injured or dead War victims ?

Wonder if wildlife being decimated has led to a shortage in food for those that have wondered off resulting in man again being an easier meal.

Took the time to watch this last night. It was pretty decent except for one dig at “rich trophy hunters” when they said in the late 90’s early 1900’s the English moved the Maasai out of their homeland to make room for wealthy trophy hunters.
Not really much new information though.

Unfortunately we had company drop in unexpectedly and didn’t get to watch it. Hopefully Saturday they’ll run it again.

We talked about this show at lunch the other day. My non-safari friend knew nothing about this historical event. He mentioned that the skulls of these lions were examined and one had a broken canine and they DNA checked the debris down in the tooth cavity…human hair and bone. A real CSI-Tsavo moment.

The conversation reminded me of one of my all time favorite paintings by John Banovich. This oil painting is quite large and those piercing eyes will make your hair stand up, but once you see what they are eating…well, that’ll make your blood run cold.

Every PH on safari: “Don’t forget to zip up your tent.. sleep tight”. :)

I was disappointed in the show. I enjoyed the historical facts that were brought out but rogue lions? I also believe that the goat carcass was planted there in the grass.

The grass wasn't matted down like I believe it would of been if a lion was feeding on it, plus that goat would of been just a snack for a grown lion.

That was my thinking as well , one goat per two adult male lions don’t think so. I was thinking caracal or jackals.

There is a very comprehensive book on the lions by someone else named Patterson with no relation to Col Patterson. He used a lot of the Chicago Field Museums research in his book.

I too saw the teaser so decided to watch, as well as record with great anticipation. Have read the book at least a half dozen times since I was young. While not terrible, the show did disappoint. Deleted the recording.
