I guess you could say that I am slow to commit. Always interesting discussions and info here. I've been lucky enough to hunt all over the past 30+ years. Fairly experienced but looking forward to learning more about big bores and big game hunting from this seasoned group. Who knows, some of you may even be blessed with my opinions in the near future.

Happy New Year everyone

Welcome to AH, @Texas Sharpshooter Fallacy! It is a great site, glad to have you here.

If we can be of any assistance with US Customs or shipping, please call, email, or send me a message!

Welcome aboard "TSF," what part of Texas do you "hail" from. What do you consider "big bore." Are you implying that not all Texans " can shoot the eye out of a fly at 100 Yds. with iron sights?" LOL Looking forward to your input.

I'm in the DFW area. To me, .375 H&H and up is a big bore. Purists may scoff and call that a medium bore but growing up in a deer camp where everyone carried a .270 (and me borrowing my granddad's .243) any .30 cal was a cannon.

I have a .375 H&H and .450/.400 currently and am taking a hard look at a .404 Jeff or .416 Rigby next.

My user name comes from a scientific fallacy based on an old joke. Guy says he's a great shot. To prove it he unloads at the side of a barn then goes and paints a target around his three closest shots. Thus proving his skill. The scientific fallacy is when someone cherry picks select info to confirm their bias and ignores the rest of the data. Thought that was a great name for a common concept.

And no, I am not in the hard sciences, I'm in business. Just have a curious mind.

Welcome to the dark side. AH is a great place for hunters of all kinds.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm sure you hear this often, but thanks for giving a voice to the hunter in Trophy. That was a great opportunity to reach out to middle. Us hunters stay in our echo chamber too often.

Giday and welcome to the A H forums

TSF, as a Michigan deer hunter I thought that a 30-06 was the largest caliber rifle I'd ever need. Then I started reading Shooting Times, Pederson's Hunting, and American Rifleman. I quickly discovered that in order to take an Elk, I needed a much more powerful and or a longer range rifle. I covered that perceived need, then I joined AH, where I discovered that all I had was a proverbial fly swatter. The need for bigger and bigger rifles never ends. Enjoy!!

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
