I see you can’t take lever action rifles to South Africa. Too bad, since I have a Winchester 1895 that I’d love to bring.

Two questions:

What’s the rationale?
Are there any countries that do allow them?

YOUR MISTAKEN. TAKE IT AND HAVE FUN. MY FIRST TRIP WITH ONE WAS IN 2002, TOOK MY LAST TRIP WITH ONE IN 2018. riflepermits.com IS YOUR FRIEND.

You can't take any type of automatic over there but I've never seen where you can't take a lever rifle. My PH said he's had a few come over with 45-70's

@Tundra Tiger has taken one as well, he would be happy to share info with you. I suspect he will respond here when he sees the post-

Just did. Thanks Firebird. And that was a freaking fantabulous video sir.

I have been twice and only taken levers: Marlin MXLR (.338 Marlin Express), Marlin GBL (twice), and a Savage 99 (.300 Savage).

I've always wondered about that. My PH in Limpopo wanted a lever action 30 30 more than anything. I wish I could take him one. Guess I could, really...

My 1895 Win is in .30-06 … and has been such a great rifle … I’m sure it would want to make the trip

I have the same, and have considered taking it over.

Be careful of hunting Chewore South, the area has been decimated.....

Curious about this. I hunted Chewore South with D&Y in September and they did tell me it was there last hunt there.

Which outfits shot it out?
Impala cull hunt for camp meat!
