I thought you all might like to see some pictures of the rifle Wayne at AHR just finished building for me. I first found out about AHR "American Hunting Rifles" from a post Mike70560 made about his left hand CZ550 that Wayne re worked for him. I contacted Mike and got the information on how to get hold of AHR. I was looking for a bolt rifle that was dependable for hunting dangerous game, I have seen several african PH's packing CZ 550's. Wayne uses the 550 action for the platform he builds most of his rifles from. To make along story short I contacted Wayne and placed a order. Buy chance a few months later I had the chance to vist Wayne in Montana and have a look at some of the work he does. If I had any reservations they were completly gone after seeing the rifles he was finishing up. I made a change in the sights in the middle of the build as I had initialy told him to leave off the leaf sites and just put on a peep. I later figured that if I ever sold the gun some day maybe it better have leaf sights installed as most people are likely not into peeps like I am. So this morning I get a email with the pictures. I replied to Wayne "Wow" how happy I am with the result, guns are tools but this looks like a piece of art. Now comes the painful wait until it arrives and I can shoot it. If you are interested you can contact Wayne at AHR, American Hunting Rifles

Double D what a beautiful safari rifle. Good thing comes to those who wait...

DD I would hate to have to push that rifle along in front of me when crawling in for a shot!! Having said that - she makes my ZKK602 in 450 Ackley look like a dog! A very nice looking rifle!

It'll be a case of beauty and the beast of your new toy gets the chance to mix it up with an old dagga boy! No doubt you'll enjoy your hunting with this one, quite a talking piece.

I agree when I saw it, I said ouch the first scratch is going to hurt. My Searcy double has a awsome piece of wood and it never got left behind in the truck and this one wont either. I have noticed that english walnut seems to stand up better to minor dings and scratches than other stocks I have owned. This rifle was built to hunt. I have been to africa 8 times and its to late to get rid of the bug now.

DD,

Congratulations!!! you got yourself a exquisite , masterpiece of a rifle ............. envy you LOL....

Beautiful rifle. I was thinking about having AHR make me one as well. Finding big bores in a quality left hand action is next to impossible.

If you do not mind me asking how much did this particular rifle cost? A range is fine if you feel uncomfortable providing an exact price.

Many thanks

Yes, that is pretty gun, the first scratch is going to hurt a little (lol). That gun should last a few lifetimes!

Nice without scopes. Will be even nicer to see it finished. If possible.

I have one in .416 Rigby and it shoot like a laser. As to the cost ,there is a run down of cost on AHR site but a full build is around $5,000.

Gorgeous, If you ever decide that you just don't need it any more, let me know.

Congratulations, truly a beauty.
Let us know how it shoots.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
