I bought some 6.5 caliber Lapua bullets (155 grain RN soft point) to try in my 6.5 x 55 Swedish M96 mauser prior to my first safari; unfortunately, I didn't find a load that gave acceptable accuracy prior to my going, so I took my .30-06 and .338 Win. mag instead.
I recently was testing some loads with a different powder and came up with an accurate load for these bullets. I was wondering if anyone had used these on game; specifically, African species.
I'm sure that they will work well for game such as impala, warthog, blesbok, etc., but what about bigger species such as wildebeest, waterbuck, zebra, and kudu? I've read reports from various hunters using these bullets to take elk successfully, and one account were the author states he took kudu using the bullet (in this caliber), but I'm interested in hearing from anyone here on the website that might have used this bullet on safari.
Thanks!

I like the Lapua bullets, they are no TSX but I think they are great bullet for broadside shots and quartering away shots, something I strive for anyway when hunting in Africa. I would like to use some in my 9.3x62 in Africa.

The 286gn lapua Mega projectile leaves a nice X shape exit on brumbies when shot broadside at no more than 100m with my 9.3x62. They also group MOA all day long.
