I look for a hat!

Lots of great input on this question, I may purchase a new hat as well!

On my first safari I had a camo boonie I bought at some discount store. It was ventilated and light weight with a narrow brim. I’m wearing it in my avatar. My PH liked it so much, I gave it to him, thinking I could find another... NOPE!
For my second safari I took a dark grey ventilated boonie that had a tuck away neck drape. I got this one for $6 at Walmart.

I like the boonie hats by TRU-SPEC. I've had one for ten years and it's held up very well. I've since bought a few more just to have a couple other camo patterns I like, and one plain light brown one for use in places where camo might be frowned upon.

Have had a Tilley for years, can’t go wrong with them. Wear it for hunting to yard work. Throw it in the washer several times a year and it comes out like new. If this one ever wears out, won’t hesitate to buy another.

I normally use just a regular Army green boonie hat from the local Army/Navy supply store for about $15.
I wish Filson made the Tin Cloth Bush Hat in a green, I'd be sold on it.
I may be upgrading to a Filson Tin Cloth Packer Hat because it does come in green, although the brim is a bit shorter than the Bush hat.

A few years ago I got a nice, wide brim hat at Academy Sporting Goods in Texas. The hat was perfect for what I wanted and was inexpensive at $20. Then I left it in the overhead bin of a flight and I have been using ball caps since. I will likely pick up another one of these if I go on a 10 day+ hunt.

I like Tilley hats. The T5M0 is about perfect for me. I have a very good quality Akubra from Australia, for when I have to look my best, but it's not as practical to travel with a hat that can't be crushed.

For me it's an early 50s Roos Brothers Homburg- for the last several years very few occasions find me that dressed-up, so I generally have one of my Filsons.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
