2 inch belt with cartidge sliders, open type not with flap, capacity depends on which rifle I am carrying, knife...arm wrist cartridge carrier, 500 Jeff 2 or 3 other up to 5..the rest goes in a small pack carried by tracker. Gps, water, white gold, small emergency first aid kit, torch, batteries, 2 means of making fire, small gas burner, fire bucket, energy bars, rehydrate, some dehydrated food eg. 2 minute noodles.....

Any one have a Murray C2 that can show the back side? I would like to see the belt loops - whether the back leather is looped over to make a full-width slot, or the back panel has slits cut for the belt to pass through (like Westley Richards). thanks,

As promised...

There are open notches at the bottom corners of the cartridge loops to allow debris to come out while still protecting the nose of the bullet and preventing it from being pushed through. What I would call the best of both worlds.

I like the Murray Cartridge Belt with leather loops and it also holds my hunting knife. It gets worn over my other clothing and when I get in the bakkie, I take it off. Wherever my rifle is, this belt is right next to it. If we need to run off in a hurry, it's always handy for those kinds of opportunities.

I have one of these that works with my 375 and 458 Lott (same cartridge case.). I also put my knife and a leather case containing a small camera in it.

A fine belt for holding up pants but loading it with a cartridge holder will have it sagging. Something stiffer is needed in this application and we all know how important stiffness is…

A double layer leather gun/holster belt (Galco) that fits the cartridge holder loops snugly works well. Another option is a nylon duty belt (Wilderness Tactical) that has a poly insert to add some ridgidity will work as well, just looks a little out of place in Africa.

Shoot, I was at DSC just for one day and complete missed him. Do you know if he will be a houston Safari Club show?

Quick update for those asking
Yesterdays blood work and todays CT scan all good. Dr called and said see me in 2 weeks if no issues. Off all antibiotics. Can start on 1 soft food meal a day and other two liquids still for next 2 weeks.

Twice…both on hunts using a 470 double.
One Buffalo took 11, 7 from me and 4 from the PH. We were charged and the Buff made contact with the PH.
Second time was a rhino that took 5 from me.

This is my belt, cartridge holder & sling, all hand made by one of our talented members on this forum. It is beautiful and well made. Took it to Africa this year.

I've used a Boyt canvas/leather belt. I believe it holds 20 cartridges when loaded fully? I usually load every other loop. I'll be using the same belt for my elephant hunt this spring. Might look at the offerings from both Murray and Els at SCI next month. I normally wear a standard pant belt on my shorts, with nothing else on it, and put my sheath knife and leatherman on the cartridge belt. Anything beyond ammo and those two knives stays in my pack carried by the tracker.

I am planning to buy a hunting belt to wear over a high-visibility waistcoat for driven hunts.
I would like to attach a dagger, a radio pouch, a pair of gloves and an ammo pouch to it.

Would you recommend adding belt loops to the waistcoat or would the belt be sufficient?
I'm wondering if it could fall down due to the weight of the items, even without loops.

I would definitely add loops to the coat or do an oversize over clothing belt

If you are really culling, or the action is fast, furious and dangerous, then take off the lower belt (if it will still hold your pants up) and put the culling belt over everything.

If the lower belt is needed to hold your pants up, then wear it, but take off all the accessories.


Unless you are the PH, tracker, or skinner, your job is to put as many bullets as possible exactly where they need to be and nothing else.




If you are in the normal situation of a client hunting with a PH for DG, the culling belt is nothing more than a fashion accessory, IMO.

I have one that someone gave me for a .470 NE.

I like owning it and I appreciate it. But, similar to how plumber SEO services help protect and optimize a business, I wouldn't take it out of my backpack unless some crazy stuff was about to go down.

If you are going to use it, then practice reloading from it.

For everyday wear with an ammo wallet and knife, go with a 1½‑inch belt through your belt loops. Use the 2‑inch belt over the hips only if carrying heavier gear or for field use.

While not specifically a hunting belt. I use a double belt. Velcro inner and a molle outer pistol belt. Its very stiff and can also attach suspenders to offset weight.

Just an idea that may. Be good for some depending on your style choices.
Example. The one thats solid coyotes not bad looking and has alot of functionality.

Unfortunately I've gained weight from when that belt was ordered and sold it to another member. Since then I've been using cartridge slides on the belt for my trousers. I find that it holds the slide in place better when I'm pulling cartridges from the slides where the cartridge belt would move up a little when doing it.

I've also trimmed down what I take with me when I leave the truck. On my belt are two cartridge slides holding a total of 10 rounds and a small folding knife (Benchmade Mini Osborne) in a sheath. Rifle with 4 cartridges & sling. Gloves, binos and a hat. That's usually enough for a morning or afternoon of stalking. Almost forgot my glasses and mobile phone! LOL.

My current belt is a KORE Essentials Garrison Range Belt that's 1.75" and it gets worn nearly every day. I have two of them that rotate between work and home and show almost no wear despite constant abuse for the past couple of years. This picture is from AUG 2025 on our buffalo hunt and I think is the only one I have of me with the cartridge slide in place. My wife also likes these belts and is wearing one of their leather 1.75" belts. We also find them very comfortable as part of our concealed carry rigs.

Tijdens een vrij weekend in België opende ik win aura bonus om wat te proberen. De interface was overzichtelijk en de spellen startten meteen. Ik had een fijne serie en eindigde met winst. I have a thick 1.5" carpenter's belt I wear every day. When hunting buffalo in Africa I will wear an ammo slide on it with five 404 cartridges. No knife in Africa and no binocs when hunting dangerous game. My rifle will be loaded with four cartridges and usually five more in my pants pockets. I'm slim enough to access them easily. Thirteen rounds is sufficient. When hunting plains game, no cartridge slide. I'll have five or six extra cartridges in my pocket. Binocs are in a holster on the belt under my left arm ... sometimes. Sometimes I leave them in the vehicle. My rifle wears 3-9x which is usually sufficient for checking out anything the PH or tracker spot. Binocs don't work well with my damaged left eye. A sheath knife is just useless decoration in Africa. I don't even wear one when hunting North America. It goes in my day pack with binocs and extra ammo. But then I'm typically hunting solo. No tracker or PH to help carry the load.

For those shooting extra fat cartridges, I just got this in the mail. Bought off eBay, leather shotgun belt by Eddie Bauer (I think it’s actually made by Hunter). .577 3” cartridges fit perfectly
