How to carry your trophy to camp

Members, this is something not seen anymore when hunting. Although it was practiced way back in our history , we at the Black powder hunt choose to do it old style. I think this is a good way of showing respect for the animal you hunted. I know it will not be possible to do it with larger game species ..but for that we have another plan. Here are a few photos of hunters carrying their game they shot to the camp site. Enjoy these photos and any comments will be most welcome to share with us.

Nice, I've done that a few times before with red deer here in NZ, but the back is not up to it anymore. Now I cut them up in the field and put them in a pack.

I've done this method on occasion with Pronghorn Antelope, but nothing else I hunt at home lends itself to this mode of transport.

I will dream of being able to use Donkeys now.

Members , thank you kindly for the positive replies, it really is much appreciated. Yes, the donkeys were a nice addition to our camp set up..every one enjoyed being around the donkeys...they really got pampered a lot ...

Many years ago, when I was a young Superman, I carried a Mule deer out of the back country on my shoulders.

After that ordeal, I learned that de-boning, and a pack frame, was a much easier option.

Huntinlabs, let me put it in a better perspective...I think it is something special about carrying a hard own trophy back to camp( if it is physical possible) it definitely is a great feeling walking into the camp with a impala or warthog on your back..since I am the camera man in the camp it makes for great photos..

I agree. It think it makes the meat taste better knowing you almost killed your body to get it back.. something about suffering when it comes to hunting.

There is something special about it, as I am on the wrong side of 35 though, the whitetails get dressed on the field and skin/head/ entrials get left. Buzzards gotta eat to.
