Picked up this jewel last night, but it came with a tremendous price. One of my best friends recently passed away from cancer and left this to me. I'm going to make sure she gets out to the game fields this coming season, but it'll be bittersweet without him.

Is that a 700 Classic

I have the same gun
Went to SA for my 1st Safari. Awesome caliber.

Losing a good friend is hard, time heals the hurt but you have a great piece of him to take with you to the field to remember. As the years go by it becomes much more common place to see people you love leave this earth. All part of living, regardless how bad it sucks. Enjoy the rifle, I'm sure he will be with you on the next hunt with it. Nice rifle in a great chamberings, enjoy it. My condolences brother!

So sorry for your loss, I like that you are planning on taking it hunting this year

Very sorry to hear of your loss.

My brother-in-law was hunting on my place in MO two years ago. He killed a deer with his dad's old '06.

As we stood over the deer, we reminisced about hunting with his dad and how special it was that we could hunt with his old rifle (he's been gone 30 years).

We both ended up crying over that deer, thinking about his dad.

I hope you will have such a moment with this rifle.

I think it a high honor for your friend to pass along his rifle to you care.

I inherited a 1950 Winchester Mdl 70 in 30-06 from an old uncle who horse packed frequently into Williams Cr in CO for elk. I too killed several elk, deer and antelope with it. I now have passed it on to a fine nephew who is looking forward to his first Texas whitetail with it.
It still groups <3/4" at 100 yards with a load of 165 gr Sierra BTHP ahead of H4350.

Accurate old guns are wonderful! And I'll bet that Remmy is!

I'm sorry to hear, the price is high indeed. It's good that your friend's memory will live on through his rifle. I hope the same happens for all of us.

Sorry to hear about your friend, but glad you will carry on his memory. Beautiful rifle.

We met the first week of June, 1990 we were friends immediately. Made a lot of trips together for shooting and hunting. He was a brother to me.

MS your buddy must have thought highly of the friendship. Charlotte used to say: "A friend is someone that knows all about you and still likes you". You are fortunate to have had such a friend. He will be honored and remembered with every round you put down the barrel. And that's what he wanted, not only for you to have the .300, but to use it and keep it alive thru the years, thereby keeping his memory alive thru you. He must have trusted you completely and that's testament to the man you are.

My brother took the very same rifle to Namibia, very accurate and worked perfectly. Sorry for the loss of a good friend.

I finally got her out yesterday and harvested this doe at 130 yards using a 168 Hornady A-MAX.

As fine a trophy animal as you will ever take.

Thanks. Just trying to fill my freezer.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?

I'm about ready to pull the trigger on another rifle but would love to see your rifle first, any way you could forward a pic or two?
Thanks,

Love your rifle! I'm needing a heavier rifle for Africa. Sold my .375 Dakota Safari several trips ago. Would you have any interest in a trade of some sort involving the custom 338/06 I have listed here on the site ( I have some room on my asking price. I also have a large quantity of the reloading components and new Redding dies as well as a box of A-Square Dead Tough ammo.
