They made a few rifles on No 1 actions. At that time (early 90's) there really wasn't an alternative in terms of single-shot actions so modifying a No 1 was the only choice. I had a limited edition booklet (H&H printed these during the past, perhaps they still do) and there was a photo in there of a highly engraved No 1, also in .500/465 NE. I suspect all of the Holland No 1's went to the US. It's not something I'd care to own, but to each his own.

That is exquisite! I would have expected a higher grade stock though. That calibre must have a vicious recoil, I wonder if they made them in 375 H&H?

Good looking Rifle.
At 7lb is a "light" rifle for a big bore in a No 1.
a Normal Tropical like the 416 Rigby weigh around 9lb.
The 450/400 is 7,75lb and pretty much the perfect calibre combination for the Ruger no 1

I don't know why Ruger doesn't get into the double rifle business. I think there's a great market niche for a quality under $5k double rifle in a few calibers or even one.

I may be wrong but I kinda doubt that they could make a quality double at that price point. Doubt there’s enough interest to justify it as well

don't they make a really nice over/under 20 gauge? Maybe they're part way there.

At one time they made over unders, and I believe side by sides as well if my memory still serves me right

They did. The Gold Label was their SxS, and the Red Label was O/U. IIRC, both had some issues, but I don't recall what those issues were. The Red Label was fairly popular, but I've never even seen a Gold Label in real life.

I have been using a "Personal Property" rider on my State Farm homeowner's policy to cover guns when I travel with them.
I have several firearms, but only one is worth over $20K (A Heym double rifle).
Very interested.
Would firearms be covered for damage, as well as, complete loss?
I'll can let the State Farm rider cover my watches...
