Greetings all,

I'm Alex, a graduate student at the University of Florida studying the economic value of wildlife in Southern Africa. Surprisingly very little data is available, except for South Africa, on the value of hunting to national economies, and I am interested in showing under what policies this value is maximized. I've been following this forum for a while, have learned a lot from it, and decided to register to be able to learn more through interaction. Perhaps a little later I will be asking for assistance in contributing to the research through a survey, but for now I just wanted to say hi.

Welcome to AH Alex! Are you a hunter yourself? Why Southern Africa and have you been there?

Hello, welcome to AH!

Alex, good luck with your research.

Which policies are you trying to compare?
Bans, farms, GMA,etc?

hi welcome aboard :D Beers:.........:E Hmmm:...wonder what happened to the other student we had on here?.....seems to have gone quiet after her initial spurge................thinking back wasnt she from a florida educational establishment as well............

Thanks. I'm not a hunter though I have a background in wildlife ecology so I certainly appreciate the value of hunting as a management tool, especially in the US. I lived in Zambia for a couple years where I worked at one of the smaller national parks--one with very little wildlife outside its boundaries. It seemed obvious to me that the way to change that is to give wildlife value on land outside of the park system. But even where hunting is allowed, resource ownership policies don't always provide an incentive for the landholder to invest in wildlife. That's why I'm interested in comparing different systems across Southern Africa.

It's unfortunate that some researchers don't give back to or share results with the communities that helped them. I promise to make my results available to all.

Welcome to AH sir!

Thank you. I'm aware of the work that Southwick Associates did and I think it's great. Hopefully my work will balance their broad empirical findings with nuanced analysis of factors that contribute to or constrain economic value.

welcome aboard, just tell it straight,as is,facts and not emotion.

Hello Mike,

I was first in Zambia from 2008-2010 and did some work with Kasanka as a PC volunteer in the area.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
