Hello from NC

Greetings AckleyHunter,

Khomas Highland Hunting and Fishing Safaris of Namibia, welcomes you to the greatest forum on earth.

Since with 156 gr bullet, the 7MM-08 provides identical ballistics to the 7x57 and 160 gr bullet, I predict you and your wife will bag many fine animals, there in South Africa.
(The 7x57 is by now enjoying almost 130 years of excellent global hunting history).
Also, the Norma Oryx bullet you have chosen is a VERY good one, at the velocity which your rifle will launch them.
And, I shall look forward to your hunt report, as well as especially any photos you might share.

Best Regards,
Velo Dog.

Welcome aboard AkleyHunter. FYI you can take 2 rifles to South Africa without any problems. The 300 Win Mag for you and the 7mm-08 for your better half. Some African PG gets fairly large i.e. 700 Lbs. or so. I usually take one larger caliber for those, and one smaller caliber for the stuff weighing less than 300 Lbs.

Welcome to AH! Exciting adventure ahead! Nyala's a great target species. 7mm-08 should serve you well, especially with manageable ranges. Have a great hunt!

What sling studs do those swivels fit ? They look to be quite a bit wider than the standard modern swivels. They may be just what I need for my Remington 30 Express wide swivel studs. Can you measure the pin diameter ?
