Greetings from South Africa
Fellow Conservationist / Hunter interested in all things African flora and fauna
Currently resident in the KwaZulu-Natal province
Also interested in all aspects of firearms - history / technical / gun-smithing / reloading / competition
Have spent time in and travelled extensively in SWA ( Namibia ) Rhodesia ( Zimbabwe ) on the Zambezi river and hunted in those territories. By fortuitous circumstance without any outfit or PH. Nothing serious Kudu / Impala / Springbuck. Although I saw the big five in very close proximity every day I did not develop any wish to shoot any big DG. Really just enjoyed observing. Pretty much the way I still feel. ( although admitting that here may be counted as "sacrilege" )
Although I did tag along on a successful Buffalo hunt.
After many times landing on this site after searching the InterWebz I thought it time to actually sign up participate and take advantage of the wealth of knowledge here.
I am currently in the strange position of having fully paid for rifles ( a VOERE 30-06 on a Mauser action and a HOWA 1500 in 300WM ) which I do not currently own - until the .. "Application to posses a firearm" has been vetted and granted. A strange situation
I am grateful for the opportunity to register and participate here and look forward to future interaction

One thing I forgot to mention but might have been picked up by my intro
I am also very interested in / fascinated by the early history of DG hunting in Africa in the early ( "terrible" ) colonial days. As well as the general history of this time period
The high mark of the quintessential "African-Safari"
I also try and collect books about these early days.
I did get dragged along to "Out of Africa" which I actually enjoyed and went and read more about.
