Guess I'm the new kid on the block

Welcome to AH drhall762, is that a Rottweiler in your avatar ?

Yes, that is Pooby. His registered name was German and long, Pluto von????? I named him Hades, the wife called him Pooby. He passed many years ago but he was a great dog. Loved to sit at that kiddy picnic table.

Welcome
However you do know it is a rule if you own a double rifle you have to hunt Africa at least once............and we all know there never is an "only once" when it comes to hunting Africa :)

I would love to hunt Africa "once." Mostly I am interested in the antelope.

I had a female Rottweiler, best dog I ever had.

Welcome to AH sir.

You can hunt plains game with a double.

Welcome!

Mentioned going to Africa to the Memsahib, though these days that may not be a PC term, and she is ready. Wants to do it next year. I'll be asking a LOT or questions between now and then.

That's fine. What animals will be you be interested in for next year?

After some thought on the subject, there are only two that I am really interested in: the Impala and the Waterbuck. I know that may sound kind of narrow but if I am going to hunt and consider bringing back trophies, I only want to hunt and kill what I want to mount.

Welcome from another North Carolina native. Hyde County ,home of the largest black bears in the U.S.
when you get to Africa you may change your mind about only impala & waterbuck , all African animals are beautiful. Forrest

For the most part I am in agreement. I guess Warthogs grow on a person. LOL

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
