Great 4457 experience

The only thing I had that represented an issue was with a lady that freaked out when I just walked in with my rifles in their cases. She barked at me that I should have come in empty handed prior to and let her know what I was needing to do.
The SOP at Long Beach, CA is to come in with the forms and id after parking one's car with the firearms at the garage. They'll process the forms and TWO of them will go to the garage with you to inspect serial numbers and sign the forms. They do not want the firearms at the office.

It would seem each office has its own way of doing things, no sense in establishing a standard I guess.

I've had rapid friendly service at the Commercial Port of Entry in Nogales. This is an ICE station and the guys are pretty busy catching bad guys, but they come right out to my car, inspect, stamp and I am on my way in minutes.

ICE guys can do that at the stations?

CBP Dulles has never been anything but professional, courteous and helpful to me and mine. Glad to know I am not the only one. DFW, less so. still courteous, just not as helpful.

TSA encompasses ICE and CBP. And there is also a CBP office in Nogales.

At this one they do. CBP does not do it at the local station - about 2 miles down the road from my house. So I drive the 30 minutes to Nogales - directed me to go to this station and not to the main POE in Nogales.

My 4457 experience was extremely good. Officer looked at my paperwork asked if he could correct what he thought might be an issue. Retyped it had me sign he signed then looked over my items to insure serial numbers matched.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
