The crazy part for me is that my better half wants to buy a game farm:) but she doesn`t care about hunting, she just wants to have a guest house. The difficult part is the same, the guys from Hamar (lotto) never calls. I have seen a lot of farms in the eastern cape, but its not for free:(

What kind of cost are we talking about here? Is this something that is possible?

Well everything is possible to state that cliche;) In the Eastern cape there are farms out on the marked for everything between 2-50 million rand. And the difficult part starts probably after you get the monet to buy it. Then you have to learn everything you need to operate it, get licenses and so on. To operate a game farm its probably best to live there? or do you have a guy you trust to operate it. This is the really difficult way to go, but still a dream:) No more siting around the office, instead all your time in africa operating your own game ranch:) I think its difficult to come from another country and to earn a lot of money doing this. But it would be a lot of fun in my dream;)

Ok. So a guy goes for broke, sells and cash's in everything. Is there a book out there "game farming for dummies"?
I know there is a couple guys owning farms yet operating out of the USA.
I have to believe the real advantage is to actually live the dream. Anything is possible if someone wants it bad enough.

stretch you would need a lot more than a game farming book for dummies. the main thing you would need is a very experienced and TRUSTWORTHY manager to run it and try and teach you about the animals, the bush, dealing with govnt bureaucracy , dealing with the staff and that is only the beginning :demented:

That's why I would need that book because I definitively qualify as a dummy;)
Kidding aside, it peaked my curiosity when I read about it.
I don't see this as a possibility for me but I am going to explore an alternate way to travel and hunt Africa as often as possible in the future.

Here are something to look at and dream about......
Eastern Cape Farms for sale

I have dreamed on this on a regular basis. A good thing about those estates if you are ever going to buy. Most of them have been there for quite a while so I think you can bargain quite abit here:)

Stretch: It would be living a dream, but have to bet hard to fullfill it. Think it must be a retirement plan for now:)

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

Hi EGS

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
