Well, I'm probably going to regret this but I've decided to put my Winchester Model 70 Safari Express .375HH CRF up for sale here on the forum. It has made 2 trips to Africa taking a cape buffalo in 2023 and an eland in 2024 (both one shot). I'm not planning to do any more buffalo hunts so she has become a safe queen and someone else needs to be taking this great rifle to Africa to hunt and give me more space for new additions to the safe.

I purchased the gun in 2022 in preparation for my buffalo hunt. It is a New Haven CT built gun that was still new in box and hadn't been fired prior to myself. Winchester reintroduced the CRF Feature in their Model 70 "Classic" rifles in New Haven starting in 1992 until they quit New Haven production in 2006. I have tried to date this rifle based on the serial number G329796 but it appears that records weren't adequately kept during these years. The previous owner told me he had bought the rifle new around 2000.

The rifle shoots both 300 gr TSX and 300 gr A-Frames to roughly the same POI at 75 yards and shoots less than 1 MOA groups at 50-75 yards which is where I have it sighted in to shoot. The rifle has a Leupold VX3HD 1.5-5x20 illuminated 30mm scope with the FireDot Twilight Hunter reticle. It is mounted with Leupold backcountry bases and 30mm QR rings. Scope also has a rubberized "bikini" style scope cover with it. The CDS dial has been redeemed and will come with it, it was created for 300gr TSX loads, although I have never put the dial on the scope and I still just use the plain CDS dial. When I have removed the QR scope and replaced it, it still has retained zero settings.

The rifle is in excellent condition as seen in the photos with one small nick on the stock by the grip, everything is original as I've had no work done to it since owning the rifle. Total round count that I have shot is approximately 40 rounds total. Rifle weight with scope is just over 11 pounds and the LOP is measured at 13 5/8"

I also will include a set of A-Zoom snap caps with it for dry fire practice. I have quite a bit of .375 ammo that can be sold with the rifle. If you do not want either the scope or the ammo I will retain them and list those separately after the rifle sells.

The ammo that can be included is the following: 2.5 boxes (50 rounds) of Swift factory 300 gr AFrame loads, 2 full boxes (40 rounds) of Federal Safari Cape Shok 300 gr Swift AFrames, 1 partial box of Pendleton Ammunition (17 rounds) loaded with 300 gr Swift AFrames, 4 boxes (78 rounds) of Barnes VorTX loaded with 300 gr TSX and 1 full box (20 rounds) of Norma 300gr Barnes Banded Solids. So in total that is 107 rounds of 300 gr AFrames, 78 TSX and 20 Solids or a little over 10 boxes of ammo that has all been stored in a climate controlled gun safe.

Pricing:
Rifle with Leupold scope and all Ammo = $3,500 + shipping
Rifle with Leupold scope = $2,600 + shipping
Rifle only = $2,200 + shipping

I will ship the rifle from my FFL to your FFL for $100 (that is what they charge me to package and ship). The rifle will ship in it's original box inside another shipping box to your FFL. The scope (in original box) and ammo will ship separately via FedEx ground. I can accept payment via Venmo, PayPal or personal check (shipment only once check clears).

I am willing to do FaceTime or direct phone conversations to answer any questions and discuss payment and FFL transfer. I WILL NOT ship this rifle to anyone until I have had a direct conversation with buyer to verify authenticity. First person to post they will take it with which option (rifle, scope, ammo) and follow up with me takes priority.

Thanks for looking, Pat

@Mark Biggerstaff, thanks for the like, hope someone out there can use this gun and has been looking for one. I'm going to focus on plains game hunts for the future and I have that new 35 Whelen that I got a Leupold scope for through you in June. It should be plenty of gun for any plains game I will hunt!

Forgot to mention in my post that if you live in MT, Northern Wyoming, Eastern Idaho or Northern Utah and want to do a Face to Face transaction, then I'm willing to take a drive and meet you somewhere in between.

MontanaPat,
Great rifle, sir. If the ammo does not sell with the rifle I would like to buy 1 box of the Swift with A Frames 300 grains and 1 box of the Federal with A Frames 300 grain. Thanks and GLWS.

These New Haven Model 70s are typically well built and accurate rifles. The 375H&H is a fantastic caliber. I have 2 of these rifles in the left handed versions. Can’t go wrong here. GLWS.

New Haven "G" series for year 2000: 320,000-345,000
Seems as tho your rifle was one of the first of the year 2000

If I hadn't just picked up a stainless classic in 375h&h and ordered a new stock for it, id have snatched this up! GLWS!

If for some reason the ammo doesn't go with. I'd like to put my name in for the remainder after RSL

@CurtisDees I will sell the scope for $425 shipping included. I have not taken it off the rifle yet so not sure of any ring marks but they should be minimal if at all. Scope was new when bought in 2022 for this rifle and only mounted on it. Rifle buyer has asked for the rings so it would be just the scope. Scope works flawlessly with clear glass, no scratches and has battery in it for illumination (battery turned backwards in storage to prevent accidental discharge)

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
