I am listing for sale a 2013 Blaser R8 Klavinius. This is a hyper limited model that is collectible among Blaserphiles (I’ve heard less than 50 out there but cannot confirm). At the time of release, this was priced at the top of the Blaser range, similar to a Baronesse, today. To my eye, it is a striking piece and also a conversation starter. The unconventional engraving is based off of hunting cartoons published by Harald Klavinius, a German artist/satirist. I find them to be hilarious. Some close-ups of the engraving here: https://www.jakt.se/blaser-r8-klavinius-edition
The rifle is mechanically flawless and, I would say, a 9.5/10 overall with imperfections being “safe marks” - I actually don’t know of any mares but am sure a forensic inspection would turn something up. Use includes about 100 rounds and 3 days of estate hunting in blue bird weather. As with all Blaser, it is sub-MOA accurate. LOP is 14.5”. Cased in green poly with a sling, tool and limited papers.
Due to rarity and a lack of comps out there, this is a somewhat complex exercise in secondary market pricing. Here is my attempt/rationale at that . . .
New, replacement pricing for the following:
Baronesse (stock receiver and trigger group) $15,234
Blaser 30-06 fluted and threaded semi weight barrel $3275
Bolt housing with illumination control $535
Standard size titanium nitride bolt head $915
Blaser saddle mount (optics) $525
Standard mag insert
Swarovski Z6i 3-18x50 w/ BT $2500
TOTAL = ~$23k
The stock is what’s complex to price. On one hand, it is used; on the other, it's collectible and no longer available. My sense is that the collectibility offsets the fact that it is not new and the price should wash out to replacement value (the Baronesse). That said, my gut tells me it won’t sell for that without being at auction. I am willing to price it out in tranches since it is a modular platform and that the buyer may have the peripherals.
Stock Receiver and Trigger Group = $13k
Full rig = $18k
Full rig, less optics = $16k
Prices are absolutely negotiable/OBO and I am willing to have any discussion regarding an alternate view of value in order to arrive at a reasonable number.
The first set of videos are intended to show the rifle in bright natural light. The second set to get a sense of appearance under an overcast sky. Also some close-ups of engraving. Happy to provide any other requested views or info.
