Well, success and hard work finally paid off. My good friend (Willie) and I been working hard clearing up shooting lanes, putting up tree stands, and feeders for the deer. Last night, I was on my tripod stand and had a total of 7 does and two bucks showed up before I shot this guy. I had five does eating the corn I had dropped, and one of them must have seen me move or something and bolted. As I'm seeing her run, I noticed another deer to my left that I had not seen. I saw the one side and decided to shoot him. I had to shoot between the gap of two little trees, in an opening of about 1 1/2 ", and the shoulder was the only spot visible. I took the shot, and he ran about 20 yrd. Not the biggest we've seen but he'll do for the first buck taken on the property. The others we've seen are not much bigger than this guy. We have two 9 pts, and three other 8s. Hopefully once we get them into protein, we'll see an improvement.

Nice shooting and I will be interested to see the improvements from the protein down the road.

Thank you all.

We did it on the property we used to hunt before, and the difference was noticeable. At the 3-4 year mark, the does and fawns were healthy and the difference in the antlers on the bucks was noticeable as well. We could tell that there was about a 20-30 lbs difference on the bucks from when we started.

Also grilled Backstraps with home made chimichurri is hard to beat

But of course! I've also cooked the tender loins like that and then have some extra Chimichurri to pour over the rare to med-rare tender loins. Yum!!!!

When I make Chimichurri, I put a couple of drops of Balsamic Vinaigrette, and no Cilantro. Chimichurri has no Cilantro, oh, and I hate it too. :ROFLMAO:

Congratulations! There is something special about being on your own property for sure.
We've owned ours for 19 seasons as of this year and it's still special for us to spend time hunting it.
I killed a massive 3.5 yr old 7-point last Sunday evening with my crossbow; my land is 3/4 mi. from our house. Being so close to our house, I went home to give him some time, and my wife was more than willing to help track and recover him.
Tenderloins last night and tonight!

First congratulations! Nice buck and hunting your own place for the first time makes him more special. I agree with the 3+ years of throwing protein to see the difference. Builds a LOT healthier deer. I throw a roasted soy bean and corn mix all year.

Secondo, no te gusta cilantro!! Ay hombre! La verdad, chimichurri no tiene cilantro. Pero no te gusta cilantro!! No puedo creer! :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Our season starts tomorrow.

Safe hunting

looks mighty delicious to me!

we're headed out this afternoon after work and plan on staying in the blinds all day on Sat and Sun.. we're also taking thermals with us and plan on staying out a few hours after dark to take on any pigs that might wander in.. between the wife and I Im thinking I might have the freezer half filled by sunday :)

I know it. All my family give me griefs saying I’m not Latin since I hate cilantro, and I’ve tried it and no can do. I’ve seen Chimichurri with cilantro and I’m like WTF over!

We do throw roasted soy beans, peanuts mixed with the corn.

I’m extremely excited with the property and the number of deer we’ve seen so far.

Nice buck. Congrats on the first buck taken off your property.

@PARA45 Wow, nice to see your hardworking beginning to pay off. Thanks for sharing.

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.
