Planning my first hunting trip to SA for around Christmas and I will be going there with my brother-in-law and a few of his friends for some big game hunting.

So I figured, why not join a community like yours to get up to speed with the latest in African hunting before I go?

Since I am not experienced with hunting in Africa, I will leave the planning to the other guys. But they have been talking abour either Bushveld or the Eastern Cape. It's not set in stone yet, so still very anxious to get the plans ready. You have any recommendations, Reedy?

A trip to SA around Christmas time is like going to Sioux City about now...........dog days of summer. Great for a beach trip but maybe not the best for hunting. Some places might do cull hunts, but come back in the cooler fall and winter months (late April thru Aug) to enjoy beautiful cooler, dry weather and some of the best hunting you'll ever experience.

Lots of good Cape outfitters on this site, I havn't hunted with any personally (yet) but planning on changing that next year. As far as Northern outfitters, also some very good ones on here, depends on what species you guys may want to target as to where to focus your attention. I can speak with you more through PM if you would like.

Ah yes, so I hear. My brother-in-law said the same thing a while back. We might hold off for a little while longer, which is why we still haven't decided on exactly when and where we are going.
