Just had clients, a couple, send me a bunch of pictures from their safari in late March at Ozondjahe Hunting Safaris (it's really green, lots of rain this year). When I saw this picture, I thought it would make for a good post to help you guys practice your "game eyes" (an excellent term I picked up from DUGABOY1).

How many Kudus do you see in the bush?
I suggest that you click on the picture to enlarge it. :E Shocked:

I went for 7 picture quality gets a bit rough but I'm sure there is a bambino around as well.

I can see 5 without a doubt.
There might be a 6th. Behind the cow and up a little i think i can see a piece of horn and part of an ear.

.. I can definitely see 5 .. If that is a horn in the upper right hand area of the picture.. That is a monster & lt must be shot!! QUICKLY!!

I'm going with 7.

I can clearly see six and that is my vote. Uncertaintly lies with the two young bulls behind two tree trunks off-centre of the picture... it could be a very small one between and behind them, but it looks more like a broken-off branch that is creating this illusion. SIX!
Any shooters? As is always the case, the two that require a closer look, are covered-up. But I would pass-up the options here. Cheers,

I'm sticking with my original 5.

I count 6 kudu. Two by the tree, 3 together by the brush, and one with ears in the brush to the right.

Shallom, I do believe there is another lying behind the two bulls to the left. The telltale sign for me is that it looks like I can see 1/2 of the white stripe of the chevron. Look about halfway across the 2nd bull from the left. :happywave:

I would have to vote for 5

After looking again Im thinkin I was wrong with 6 and think its 7 now!:)

enysse... you have a very valid point with the 'ear in the brush' to the right. Did not visualize that before, so it could well be either 7 or 8 kudu in the frame. Put us out of our misery and call it Jerome!

OK I'll put you out of your misery... the answer is 7, no shooters here, all young bulls and one young female. As you can see Kudus have amazing camouflage. It's actually very green due to the time of the year but during the dry season (most of the year) their camouflage works even better. There were some really good observation here. I think that the Kudu that was most often missed is the one in the lower left of the picture, look carefully you can see the points of both horns and the line of his back...

You can click on the picture to enlarge it.

Well, looks like I got the number right, but the locations wrong.

I've attached a picture with my locations. I apoligize for the crappy circles. I'm not that good at the photo editing with Paint.

Haha, it's like taking a test at school, as long as you get the answer right that's all that matters... isn't it? :satisfied:

Thanks for showing us where the "other" Grey Ghosts were...

See image of close up Kudus under the tree, what appear to be a third Kudu is actually a broken branch.

See image of close up of branch that does a pretty good job of looking like a Kudu horn, notice leaves growing out of the top.

That was a very good post. I can see the missing kudu now. They're as hard to find in real life as they are in a picture. I sure do love posts like this!
