Chrony Issues. Any Suggestions On How To Fix This?

Buy the barrel-mounted MagnetoSpeed!

My issues with that device is that you can't do speed and accuracy at the same time because hanging a weight off the barrel affects barrel harmonics and accuracy. For speed only they are fantastic

One of the benchrest shooters at the range I shoot at shot his Magnetospeed. Created a nice new channel about halfway down the unit.

Your friend should have taken more care to align the unit parallel to, and about 1/4" below, the bore axis at the time of setup. Also, the unit tends to work loose and misalign with shot impacts. He will have to buy a new unit - what else can be said?

Yes he said he messed up. Something to do with the barrel switch he did. Changed the alignment slightly.

If I could find them, I'd post a pic of the first set of cardboard aiming frames from my chrony- I taped the things back together a few times. there were some real close misses.

I was thinking it was about an inch high at three feet

Not quite as extreme, but I beat mine up with gas checks that fell off of cast bullets in flight. Mine still works, but it isn't as pretty as it came out of the box.
