Just unboxed my new 9.3 x 74 R. She’s a Chapuis UGEX ejector. She’s the second double I’ve bought. My other is a Blaser BB97 extractor, also in 9.3 x 74 R.

First impressions on the Chapuis. Feels lively, mounts well for me. Trigger is nice and crisp. Wood work and wood to metal fit is pretty good. Overall finish is pretty good. But not quite as nice as the Blaser.

Came with a test target and information on ammunition used, which is fantastic. That’s something that was lacking with the Blaser.

Anyway, it’ll probably be a while before she gets to the range. Fingers crossed that she shoots as well as the Blaser. If she does I’ve won the jackpot twice.

I used a Chapuis double in 9,3x74r on a driven boar hunt in Hungary some years ago. It was a lovely rifle to shoot. Just like a shotgun to shoot.

I have owned 3 chapuis's in 9.3x74. one UGEX and 2 RGEX. all three shot VERY well. I have one RGEX now and it is my favorite rifle I own.

I took receipt of exactly the same rifle on Wednesday, same calibre and regulation distance/ammunition. Incredible!

We’ll have to exchange notes - currently waiting for factory ammunition to arrive.

How do you expect this rifle will perform beyond 50m?

I’m intending to shoot her with iron sights and hopefully she’ll have a 4 shot composite group of better than 4 inches at 100 yards.

Be interesting to compare results.

Nice Rod - assume you'll run 286gn pills?

Something I've learned already which most likely applies to all doubles as well as shotguns - don't forget to add half a match-head of grease to the contact points where the fore-end mates with the barrel and receiver assembly. Especially on a new one.

If you don't, you might not be able to get the fore-end off without a considerable amount of frustration! Don't ask me how I know...

Sounds like a couple of happy Cleaver's customers. Have to admit that their special price on the Chapuis is very tempting.

@Tallon @R eight @JetA1

Did some more load development for the Chapuis.

Mine was regulated with Norma Oryx (I understand they use Sako Hammerhead now) - with an impressive factory test target.

My best results to date are with the max load for 2209 (65 gns) from the Woodleigh manual, giving 20 - 40mm pairs at 50m. Woodleigh 286 PPs.

Rod I grabbed one of these as well mate….correct, cheapest quality double I’ve ever come across.

Might give you a call over the weekend, cant wait to get mine !

What, if any, optics are you guys planning to use ?

Is there a special base you have to purchase for an RMR or the like ?

The mdwest house has only recently become the home of a double… I brought a Chapuis Iphisi in 375 HH home for the wife about a week and a half ago…

I’ve been super impressed with the quality of the rifle… fit and finish exceeded what I expected.. balance is about as perfect (for me) as you could possibly ask for… points exceptionally, etc…

Not that I am a double expert by any means… but.. At the price point, I’m not sure Chapuis can be beat honestly… I’ve handled several, and shot a few, merkel, sabatti, and other doubles that are +/- in the entry price range.. I definitely like the chapuis best of all options I’ve handled..

At this time I intend to use mine with the iron sights. However, one of the fellas that I shoot with has also bought one and has some optics fitted. He’s currently OS but on his return I’ll be checking out his setup. I’ll let you know what he’s done.

I still haven’t shot mine yet. I picked up my new (under warranty) BB97 just a few days before the UGEX. The Blaser has been so bloody good I’ve neglected the Chapuis.

I think that we’ve been lucky to get the rifles for the price we did.

I wouldn’t have taken the plunge if it had not been at this price due to fitting out a 4x4, I just know on this one I’d have likely kicked myself a few years down the track as I’ve wanted 9.3 double for a while.

I’ll live with the single trigger at this price, now the Chapius needs a bigger brother !

Don’t they all need siblings

Very keen to hear about your mates optics choice….Ive a little Japanese made weaver 1-3 in the cupboard which would work, but maybe I’ll try irons first.

A leica fortus 1-6 would work nice on these, or a z8 or z6

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
