Canada's boy king Bans Firearms - List of 1500

It's a non issue as I bring the common sense level down to a more exceptable level.

Best laugh I've had in a long time!

Sorry. I guess I missed the part that this firearms ban was existing legislation passed by parliament and only signed into law during parliament’s recess during a national crisis with no ability to dissent by opposing members of parliament because they’re ALL AT HOME! What other legislation will get signed into law without debate?

Pick up any Canada Gazette (published by the Government of Canada weekly) and see! Regulations are adopted/amended regularly, regardless of the status of Parliament. But - and I don't say this to excuse the system - recall that Parliament authorized this. If we are unhappy with a Government effectively ruling by decree, then we have to tell Parliament that this is unacceptable. I doubt we'd get very far - the system is so well-entrenched in the British parliamentary democracies (!) that it's unlikely to change, regardless of which party is iii power. The best solution, in my view, is to adopt a system where the executive, the legislature and the judiciary are independent and not controlled by one individual. but that would require constitutional change, and in Canada, that will never happen.

The easiest way out of this mess is vote @BRICKBURN in as prime minister, what say you BRICKBURN fancy running for office? Also sense I suggested you in the spirit of political favours I expect a cushy job I'm completely unqualified for as a thankyou.

I was about to say, even before reading any of the other comments, that I think I will refrain from putting forth my name. I am not pretty enough and although quite polite, in most cases, I can certainly be goaded into a good argument on occasion.

Thanks for the crazy thought.

OK, since you're going to go fishing for compliments, I think I can speak for all of us, we think you're plenty pretty enough to run for Prime Minister. May be damning with faint praise, but there you are!

Damn there goes my appointment, i was looking forward to interviewing secretaries.... @BRICKBURN can't you take one for the team?

Thanks for this explanation! I don’t usually comment on politics in another country, but the way this happened just rubbed me the wrong way. I’m an ardent supporter of law abiding citizens of all countries possessing firearms for protection and to hunt with. Canada is a GREAT country with GREAT people and I hope this law doesn’t morph into something more egregious? Good luck!

You sound like a future Senator!

I did not care when the Chinese ran that skinny young guy over with a tank in Tiananmen Square just why would I care what the duly elected president of a foreign country does to the people who elected him does?

@CoElkHunter I believe that what happened was technically legal, but that it was also very underhanded. To push something through for your own agenda rather than following normal (read "proper") procedures seems questionable at best.
He's the sleezy slimball politician that stereotypes are derived from.

I am not pretty enough .
No need to be! Look at our current president! You just need a beautiful woman at your side as a distraction, works like a charm.

Especially compared to our former president

I took some old, broken and no longer loved firearms to our local police here in Canada today for disposal (a service they provide!). I was surprised to hear the officer say just how much the police believe that the Prime Minister's actions in banning guns do nothing for public safety and if he really cared, he might just take a harder look at enforcing current laws against criminals than making new ones against law-abiding gun owners. He then said that he was reasonably certain (how, I can't guess) that the recent classification of so many guns would be found to be beyond the powers of the government.

I don't think the average police officer knows too much about administrative or constitutional law, but I was really quite pleased to see some common sense in a public servant (although I hope he's right). Especially theses days.

Hank sounds bit like my friends experience when they banned handguns in the UK....he waited till the last day to hand his in to the central London police station nearest him....he said to the police man...ok at least make me feel a bit better and tell me all this will make a difference....the police man said...no sorry sir it won't make any difference.....

More Double rifles listed on June 15th updated list.

Heym, Searcy, Sabatti, Purdey, Verney Carron among others. We’ll see if it’s just the “over 10000 joules” calibers so the model of the gun itself.

All bad. Some real dummies in the government that’s for sure. Even old classic English guns. 4ga punt guns. Such stupidity

I'm confused. So is the gov't making doubles illegal or is that just a representative list of what could be affected as far as caliber?

Looked at that link....but didn't understand it....is it saying doubles from .22 hornet and upwards are banned and some under lever single shots....or am I reading it wrong?...it says affected by ban in yellow and then has all different calibres from smallest to biggest listed beneath it....

@Hank2211 I'll take your unloved, old, and broken firearms in the future!! (please)
No one would have wanted these! Old stuff that in one sense survived a flood at my parents house, but in another sense didn't . . . two .22's that were cheap at the time and no longer functioned, etc. Would have cost way more to fix than they were worth, adnI'm not sure the wood could have been fixed. Anyway, I needed the room in the safe - and I kept the good stuff!

And I told the cop that someone would have to make me a dam good offer for my one rifle which has recently become prohibited, or, in the immortal words of Charlton Heston, they could pry it from my . . . well, you get the drift.

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
