Buffalo ride!

Insane how the man shot the buffalo just as the "bull rider" was moved up and somewhat clear! It must've been a good shot like stated in the comments because the buff didn't have enough left to get to the shooter or the others. I'm glad they posted the story with it.

I watched this before you posted here.
Interesting video for sure and a lot of lessons to learn.
What bothered me most was somebody takes a shot at the buffalo while the buffalo is still tangled with the guy??? WTF?

I'll play devil's advocate. How is this different to shooting a Leopard off a hunter/PH/tracker?

My goodness, first shot from the bolt, followed by the double

IMHO nobody should take a shot at an animal when it's tangled with someone unless it's point blank.
But then again what do I know I'm not a PH , all I remember is couple bad turnouts including Boddington's daughter.

Where did this happen? Does anyone know the PH?

For me watching that first shot on video seemed sketchy but I also realize when you are intensely concentrating things slow down and you are fined tuned to the picture before you. But that situation could have very easily ended with a corpse impaled on a dead buffalo’s horn.
I have had dogs pick fights with angry critters before and then come running back as if to say “look what I brought you now shoot it! “ I suspect the dogmen will think to take a rifle along in the future.

He did well and waited till he had a clear shot unlike that first shot.
Dont know the gentleman shooting the bolt. I have a feeling that could be the hunter.

The Ph takes the shot when the person if off or fallen from the buffalo, the hunter or the person with the bolt shoots the buffalo when the man is up in the air...both clear shots and nothing could be doe better, bravo to both.

Here is the story below the video.

This is the story about how quickly things can go wrong, doesn't matter how well you handle it. This is a reminder to everyone out there to always be vigilant and remember how dangerous these animals are.

The buffalo was shot with a bow, perfect shot placement but the arrow got deflected by a bone and didn't get enough penetration. Myself, PH/Outfitter and the client walked on the tracks for a few kilometers, good blood all the way but we didn't find a dead buff. We called in the vehicle so the client can switch from bow to rifle. We backtracked about 100 meters to have a buffer between us and last spot of blood. Landowner and manager arrived with dogs to assist us since it was getting dark quickly. While we were busy getting the client's rifle ready the guys with dogs went into the buffer zone to see if the dogs pick up the blood. 30 seconds later they came back at speed. The buffalo clearly circled around and was much closer than the 100 meters we cleared. The PH couldn't take a shot because of the manager in the way, him and me circled around to let the guy pass and get a side-on shot on the buffalo. The buffalo was too fast and caught up with the guy, throwing him up in the air. Once he dropped and was clear the PH finished of the buffalo.

The unlucky guy had the hole cleaned and stitched up, no permanent damage but he's now part of the club, have the story to tell and the video to back it up.

What caliber is the PH using ? 500 ?and where did he place the first shot?

The PH shot a running buff with a man on board. Stopped and killed the Buffalo and saved everybody from further injury.

Bravo to him for that.
The first shot was not the PH.
PH took a very clear shot after the man and buffalo got separated.

There's no explanation of the first shot taken for some reason.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
