Good stuff Karl!

Although, I am surprised by his bullet choice.

Love the writers style and very much enjoyed the story.

thanks for sharing! fantastic experience!

What an inspiring story!
One of these day...

Ps. Wish more national parks in South Africa would allow culling of excess animals, especially elephant.

A lot of parks do auction off trophy and cull hunting packages but not elephant

Shouldn't be. No need for solids in a .500 on buff. Maximum damage with similar penetration. Unless you are thinking VC still were regulated with Norma ammo.

No, I was referring to the DGX. I’m guessing that the hunter was using the new ones. The old ones had so many issues of breaking up.

The Normas or something else wouldn’t have surprised me, but it looks like it did the job well enough.

Great story, thanks for sharing. And congratulations to you and Karl and staff on your old buffalo, a true trophy.(y)

Thanks for sharing and congratulations to all involved! Can’t wait for the next instalment:)

Hi Desperatezulu

I was referring to the weight of the whole animal.

It’s neck was huge though

Regards
Hi Ronald - all good! I was being a smart arse. :giggle: And perhaps there was a comma there that I missed.
I thought maybe the neck weighed 90kg which would still be a big chunk.

Thanks for sharing the story!

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
