Can someone please explain to my why hunting a Buffalo costs so much more than any other plains game. Are they more scarce...is it supply and demand?

It has a lot to do with the fact they are dangerous game and can/ will try to kill you under certain circumstances. They are also one of the big 5, so not just your normal plains game.

Ps very fun to hunt and I highly suggest it

Supply and Demand and the Dangerous Game factor play the biggest part in the pricing.

It depends on which country you are hunting, if you at Zim, Tanz or Moz, there isn't much difference in the trophy price of a kudu, eland or buffalo, but your day rate is a lot higher than say SA. Hunting in these countries has much higher costs, due to logistics etc. Supply and demand is major factor as well.

Life insurance policies go way, way up when you hunt something that can kill you...................;)

every passionate African hunter dreams to shoot a buffalo. You will not find one ,who don't want to do that.
The buff- countrys in Africa are always getting less (at least Botswana).
The quotas are getting less in relationship to the hunters.
You have today Indians,Russians ,people from the other former Eastblock ,and ,and, and, which didn' t played a roll for 15 years as DG Hunter.

The population explosion is enormous.
Today, every 20 years is a redouble of the people in black africa.
1950 was living there not more than 1oo million people from Cape to Kairo (in EU 450 mio.),an almost empty Continent.
Today 1,1 Billions (in EU 500 mio) !!!!!!!!!

Zambia ia a typical unhappy example :
For years you had 35 Game Management Areas there.
In 2013 only 18 .The rest is empty poached.

Don't expect wonders in Africa.
Take your gun ,the rest of your money and go.........for your hunt of a lifetime

You might have edited your post on the PH in the Bubye. I know the PH and is a wonderful person and a fmaily man and runs a succesful business in Zim and just doesn't want the attention that the internet offers, the ugly kind.

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
