Blaser -- What is all the excitement about?

Just for information, for those who may be interested.
I was reading recently Gun Digest 2023, the news on Blaser side, is they started producing 22LR barrel.
I have a .22LR barrel also. They are great fun. Other than the short bold throw, it is the exact same weight and balance as a bigger caliber.

I was handling the K95 at Blaser’s
Booth today. What a beautiful weapon!
I’ll be there today doing the same!

I read about this rifle on our resources. A couple of quotes:

"A single charge is akin to a fountain pen"

"This gun is not for anti-aircraft gunners.
Our forester has such a word as "FLAKen". Translates as "shoot like an anti-aircraft gun", i.e. repeatedly shoot behind a passing beast"

Wow just saw the k95 on Blaser s website- I am going grade 8 walnut . Haha
I like the timber stocks but would much prefer the safari pancake style to the double rabbit.

If someone made a real Mauser take down big bore rifle with interchanging barrels probably be a long wait list.
Saw a Rigby today that was a takedown with two calibers. If I see it tomorrow, I’ll snap a picture.

@WAB - spoke to the Blaser rep and he said the pancake style safari stock is a possibility, but as a custom order option only. Minimum lead time would be 6 months.

For a price you can have one. The take down feature has been around for a century. The problem with 98's and most other interchangeable barreled rifles is that the scope is mounted on the receiver. Because of that, every take down requires a new sight in - much less switching barrels and calibers. My Westley Richards .318 take down was built just after WWI. It is very accurate, but things change several MOA if the rifle is broken down for travel and reassembled.

With the R8, the telescopic sight is matched to and mounted on the barrel. There is no change from original sight in when dismounted or reassembled.

I wanted one badly as a left handed, 2 barrel, traditional looking, safari option over the R8. I abandoned the order as fast as they dropped it from production…unfortunately

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
