Blaser R8 Kilombero Kickstop

Hi guys, looking for some advice once again please.

Does anyone have a picture to share with me, so I know how to remove the Kickstop from the R8 Kilombero stock?

The stock has the hard, red recoil pad, but I cannot for the life of me, find the slots to insert a screwdriver or allenkey to remove it? I've looked very carefully, but have no idea where the "entrance hole/s" is... And have searched the internet and cannot find any info either... LOL

The slots for your Allen key, Torx key or Phillips head screwdriver are tiny and run top to bottom in the middle of your pad.

My wife has a wood Intuition stock and had Phillips head, mine was synthetic and has metric Allen key (I believe 6mm but not positive). Use a little gun oil on the shaft of the tool to keep it from binding against the pad.

Kickstop comes out with a metric socket (17mm possibly?) on a long extension and this will also remove the stock from the receiver. You will need to find a proper metric threaded nut to thread in place of the kickstop if you intend on not reinstalling it.

Lots of other members here with the Blaser R8 platform to help you out. I believe @TOBY458 did this procedure on his Jaeger stock before selling it. He could be of some assistance with what tools he used.

Thanks BeeMaa, I found that picture you show, but mine has the hard red rubber recoil pad, and you cannot "pinch" it with your fingers to find the cut slots.

EDIT: Just found it had 2 red rubber 1/2" round "plugs" that go into the recoil pad, and pulled them out to find the screws. Thanks!!!

Now, unscrewing the kickstop, I find I cannot permanently remove the kickstop, as the kickstop screws into the bolt that holds the rear stock to the receiver.

Anyone know how to overcome this? I guess the only way would be for a much longer replacement screw/bolt...? Weird setup inside this Kilombero's rear stock with the kickstop setup....

The female threads on the kickstop should only be about 1/2" - 3/8" deep. Go to the hardware store with the kickstop to figure out what thread it is and buy a corresponding nut and washer to thread in its place. I'm certain it will be metric.

I had the same issue. I removed the kick stop from my Kilombero and realized I need a nut to replace the kick stop. I sent an e-mail to Blaser and they sent me the necessary nut in a couple days. I believe it was Andre that took care of it for me.

Lowes or Home Depot will have the nut and washer needed. I don't recall the size, but I just took the kickstop with me and found a bolt that fit the hole in it. Then I just found a nut of the same size and a washer to go with it. Pretty sure it was a metric size.

Curious, why remove it? I find the rifles balance very well with the kick stop.

I might not permanently remove it - just want to see what a little less heavy rifle feels like - especially with the semi weight smaller caliber barrels.

I contacted Andre at Blaser yesterday, and he gave me the part number for the Stock Nut - C5900008. Cost $5.50 from the local Blaser dealer, and I picked it up today.

This is what it looks like - better than a hardware store nut, as this one can be tightened with a large flat-head screwdriver, just like the kickstop. So I'm a happy man!!!

Sure thing - will be a week or two before I get out to shoot it though.
