I found this in a vintage book shop. I haven't looked through all of it; when I saw the foldout of the elephants - I bought it.

If the rest of the photography is anything close to the foldout, should be a gem.

It’s so crazy to me how spectacular some of the photography of that era still is by today’s standards, and the incredible effort it required in contrast to today. Where a photographer today can shoot literally thousands upon thousands of shots per day with ease, then parcel ones together to offset and fix exposure issues within a given composition plus all the other artistic computer and now AI enhancements…where back then, cameras were huge, heavy, slow, film sensitive and similarly bulky, and you didn’t know what you had until development of the negative. Yet, there you have a brilliant shot, 100 years ago, still amazing today.

Thank you for sharing.

Dont forget stand off distance with some of those telephoto lenses. You couldnt be 300yards off and get a photo like that in 1925

According to Cal Pappas .600 book, Maxwell had a very nice .600 double..

There's definitely more photographs, including another elephant fold out. Here's a couple pictures of his cameras and where he describes his rifle.

Just amazing pictures!
I have only scanned through the book, reading just a paragraph here and there; Maxwell describes his journey and the circumstances involved in each photo. There are 113 photos.
