The trip so far has been just unreal.

Today's effort is a 27" plus Waterbuck.

He's in good company with a 28" Nyala, and 41" very old Sable with very heavy mass and 10" plus bases!

Will post pictures when I can.

Congratulations!!! It will be great to see the pictures. Good luck with the rest of your hunt, may fortune shine upon you.

That sounds awesome! A 28 inch Nyala I am so jealous!!!

Congrats! We all look forward to the pictures!

sounds like you are having a ball, WR, looking foreward to some pics, mate
are you using the dogs ,on this adventure ?

Congrats, enjoy the rest of the trip, tell Frans the birds are waiting..

We are hunting some with both the dogs I have sent here over the last few years as well as their offspring, and a few of the others here in the RSA. this mostly of course for birds but also a few pigs as well have been pointed by the dogs.

Unfortunately the tablet I bought specifically for this trip does not work with RSA cell system so I may not get any pictures up till I get home around the 14th.

Going to try yet for springbok, Oryx, black wildebeest bushing and who knows what else next week and weekend and lots of waterfowl and wing shooting before wrapping it all up.

Numbers sound good so far.
Good luck with the rest of the trip.

Well, this trip just gets better as we go along. We spent a day and a half in The Karoo looking at amazing country so resembling where I grew up it was amazing.

We saw more big warthog in this one area in a few hours than I've seen during the entire trip.

We ended up not taking a boar, but we did have an outstanding outstanding hunt anyhow with the bulk of yesterday being spent with a spot and stalk hunt for Gemsbook.

With quite an effort and shooting in a nasty 25mph + crosswind we have an excellent gemsbok bull on the ground and then quickly too into the salt.

What a truly amazing experience this has been.... With yet a week still to go!

Can't wait to see the pictures! Congrats!

Getting very close to wrapping up the trip. It will likely take years for me to wrap my head around it all.

We traveled a few hours southeast from Hanover to near Waterford in the Eastern Cape. This country really reminds me of southern and eastern New Mexico and full of the same kind of just good, hard working folks.

This leg of the trip has produced a 36" gemsbock bull 30" black wildebeest bull, and rounded out with a very old Eastern Cape Kudu bull that measures a hair under 52" one side and just a hair over on the other.

The stalks and shots on each of the the are each worthy of their own stories and these eastern Cape Kudu love steep, hard to get to country so getting the old man out was also a rather challenging task as well.

I can't wait to see the wife and dogs again but I will not enjoy leaving.... What an amazing adventure it has been.

52+" Eastern Cape kudu will certainly stand on his own ... looking forward to the whole story with photos!

Trying to upload photos attempt one.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.

I read your thread with interest. Would you mind sending me that PDF? May I put it on my website?
