Well after several unsuccessful attempts to download my rifle pics, my post will no longer allow me to "edit" my content.

Great choice!Leupold vx-II 2-7x33
Yes. Simple, yet effectiveGreat choice!
I’ve done about a dozen rechamberings mostly Husqvarna rifles that were 9.3x57.. Seems to be less problematic with a 98 action vs a 96. Here in Canada lots of 62’s as well as 57’s on 96 actions almost all are Huskies I have three in shop for sale currentlyIf you’re going to rebarrel a rifle, any 30/06 or 270 action will work. May as well start with a good modern action.
Maybe you could get a 9.3x57 rechambered, but not sure how long those actions are.
Just make another post with pictures. I’ve had to do it a time or two myself.Well after several unsuccessful attempts to download my rifle pics, my post will no longer allow me to "edit" my content.

This is one of the new special edition Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan from Lipsey's. The fit and finish were excellent right out of the box. Trigger pull was extremely clean and crisp. Everything I need for a daily walking around anti-grizzly rifle.
Pic soon...
It fits me like a charm, and the sights are perfectly aligned every time I mount that rifle. Ammo is on the way.
I initially bought a CZ550FS in 9.3x62 for the Mannlicher stock, handling characteristics, iron sights and a bit of curiosity about the 9.3x62 having never seen or handled one. After shooting it and hunting with it I became enamored with the caliber. I have favored 35 calibers for the past 25 years. The 9.3 is like a 35 on steroids! I immediately loaded every weight bullets I could get my hands on. After hunting with them I came to the conclusion that for all but dangerous game you were really just wasting your money on premium bullets. The 9.3 with soft nose bullets just kills everything I point it at. There is always an exit hole and copious short blood trails. I really like the rifle and absolutly love the caliber.RB, I have found Big Game powder, coupled with a drop tube, when reloading, to be a game changer with the 9.3x62 loads. I got very similar results! That cartridge is absolutely addicting in its versatility and lack of recoil. Happy for you!
state side, you have to be a reloader as most stores don,t carry it, in five fairly large local sporting stores(all hunting and fishing equipment, not walmart) not one box of factory ammo. i had a custom 98 mauser in 9.3x62 and reloaded for it,with no problems, but i go to gun shows and thats were i bought reloading supplies. i went to the 35 whelen and had no trouble getting 2500 fps in a remington 700 cdl and a ruger #1 with no pressure signs at all with a speer hot-core a 250 gr bullet at 48,900 cup. i shot a cow buffalo with a 9.3x62 ms in africa, and i think a 35 whelen would have done the same thing.
It s not legal in some province only ...maybe.Better make sure your Safari operator and PH are ok because in SA it is not legal. Other countries I do not know. I would like to use mine on my next trip if the PH is ok with it
I have got one![]()

^ I’ve just got a copy of this book - a great resource for those of us that see the mighty 9.3x62 for what it is - one of the finest cartridges ever developed.
Get one...and u will leave your others rifle in the gunsafe all timesYou can buy mine!
Custommade in a chub safe like K98 action with nice walnutstock, Recknagel glas like trigger and Raetz opensight. Don't know it? Look here:

and Recknagel take down scope mounting (works like this for those who haven't seen it)

Perfect gun with perfect attachies, but ...... I don't use it!
Remember I use the 358 Win with 200 grainers in general use, which does all for me around here!
For deer and average hog, Otto Bocks 9,3 is just too much (I have to think about rebound danger for surrounding area), for Africa it's way too little, so its sleeping in the gunsafe until a princess will kiss it awake!)
Gorgeous rifle and love the scope. Just curious why did you divest the MS?I've had over a dozen rifles in 9.3x62 over the decades. The Manlicher-Schoenauers were the nicest. I'll try to dig up pictures.
The only one I have right now is a Sako 85 Bavarian Carbine with an S&B scope.
Values had gone up. I use my rifles and figured some were better off in the hands of collectors.Gorgeous rifle and love the scope. Just curious why did you divest the MS?
yes i agree you can buy ammo thu the internet, but keep your empty cases and get dies and go thu the reloading route. i shoot some realy odd ball winchester calibers, so reloading is a must to keep the cost down. It's easy to order ammo via the Internet but I'm sure state laws vary regarding that. I see by your member profile that you're located in Pennsylvania. I have no problems ordering ammo online and having it delivered to my home here in Texas.
Cheers! Bob F.
