45/70 lever action with a Hornady Interlock for Cape Buffalo

Whats a stopper round and what makes it so?
Something with enough bullet weight and velocity to penetrate the game animal and destroy vitals from any angle. That's why a PH will always carry a very big rifle, usually starting at .458 Win Mag and up.. Even the Texas heart shot, or a shot through the femur or hip, will make things stop happening very quickly if the bullet destroys the heart. In a charge almost anything will work if you can hit the brain or spine, but those can be hard to hit and you may have to shoot length wise through the chest.

The reason i ask is in my experience ive seen exactly nothing happen many times in africa with very very large rifles when they didnt hit the cns. I see so many comments on caliber and cartridge with little input on actual bullet design. Round noses basically suck and dont penetrate straight reliably. Flat nose do if constructed sturdily. We have tested this with doubles leverguns and revolvers. Flat point solid coppers even out of large revolvers out penetrated doubles with round noses basically suck solids on many many occasions.

Capstick was telling the story of another man doing it. If I recall he said the man tried to “sting” the elephant with it to turn him towards the others. The elephant then died in route.
i believe i read this story written by w.d. bell, in his book, "koromojo safari." the guy did exactly as stated above. then was telling guys about it in a bar, was called as BS. so went out with others and did it again is how the story went (i believe that's correct )

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
