404 Jeffery Winchester Pre 64 Model 70 Action

I am selling my 404 Jeffery built on Winchester pre 64 Model 70 action. It is stocked in a D'arcy Echols Lengend synthetic stock that has been "Hydro dipped". The rifle was built for me by Tip Burns, an outstanding gunsmith in Texas. It has a 23" barrel, a barrel band front sight and a single leaf rear sight. It has a barrel band sling swivel base and 3 position safety. All metal is matte finish. The LOP is 13 3/4" and weighs approximately 8.5 pounds.

Asking $3,750 shipped to lower 48. Only to California if allowed.

Have you still got the rifle? I've always wanted a .404. There's a slot in my safe between the .375 and the .458 Lott just waiting for the right .404 to come along! Does it feed well?

WAB,

I still have the rifle. It does feed well. The gunsmith that did the work did a really great job.

Someone needs to buy this. You can't have one built for that price - I can attest to that. I just had one built from a M70 Classic originally chambered in 300 RUM and I spent considerably more. Plus, this is on a pre 64 action.

Custom,

Thanks and you are so right. I think I probably have $4,500 in this gun including scope.

@LRich, the right person will come along, one with the want (maybe even need), the resources, and the appreciation. No doubt about it.

Whoever bought it.. if ya want to sell it. :) just message me.. i was a little late to the party..

I know the purchaser fairly well and I think that he is not inclined to sell it. I contacted CZ awhile back and they only assembled the 404 on a special order basis. I don't know why more aren't made. It seems it's the obvious choice regarding case dimensions for someone wanting a cartridge with performance between the 375s and the big 45s. But then, it seems most products on the market that I like get discontinued, so what's that tell you about my likes/dislikes? Good luck on your search for a 404 :<)

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
