I purchased the Sako Finnbear .375 H&H from Nighthawk a few weeks ago and finally made it out to the range today. Not too shabby for an old man. 300 gr at 100 yards. Seems I push a little left, but I doubt there would be much difference on the receiving end at that distance.

Great group. What bullet was that? I’ve gotten the best accuracy from 250 gr TTSX in my Sako.

This was actually cheap PPU 300 GR SP I found on close out from Bass Pro.
I didn't want to burn some good stuff for just a trial run to get a feel. But I was impressed with the accuracy. I can't vouch for its efficacy on DG.

If you think that group is good, wait until you try the custom match Barnes TSX I sent you… I’d say you got yourself a shooter!

BTW: that rifle was last shot 10 years ago.

Good luck on all your future hunts.

I bought around 400 rounds of the PPU 300 grain 375 ammunition about a year ago. It’s extremely accurate out of my R8 and Rigby.

I also run PPU 286 grain ammunition in my R8 9.3 x 62 and it’s extremely accurate. I’ve only ever used the PPU ammunition on pigs and it’s fine for that.

I hear that the Serb’s have ceased exporting all ammunition. Which is a shame because I cannot reload for the same price of PPU factory stuff.

And nice shooting with your new rifle.

300 gr is plenty sufficient for Cape buffalo. I have taken them with much lighter 375 bullets (Barnes TSX). Scope or iron sights?

I checked my 30-06 yesterday. About to start deer hunting. This is 165 gr Hornady Interlock at 100 yards. WWII Springfield 03A3, 24" military barrel, wearing a 3-9x Nikon BDC scope.

And here it is 200 yards.

Both targets were recycled from the range garbage. Only one round each. Exactly where it was hitting a month ago. Here I'm almost three thousand feet higher and a pretty stiff wind but mostly a tailwind. Good to go.

I've shot a boatload of PPU in handguns, shotguns and rifles and have always been very impressed with it's accuracy. High volume shooting in 3 gun competition and training.

That is not to shabby at all. (y)

PPU was good in my 375H&H, until I started to use some 10year old stuff and that was bad news, cases with cracks in the case not the necks, projectiles verdigrises to the inside of the neck, powder was clumpy and damp. The remainder had the bullets removed powder put in the garden and it was the last of my 375 H&H PPU ammo. Shame they are stopping production now.

The best thing about all the quality guns I have is that they can shoot straighter than me...:^D

Serbia placed a ban last summer on exporting military arms and ammunition in general. I suspect it has much to do with military functions but can’t remember exactly.
They are still producing just not exporting

Hi PaulB,
I have a Ballard Arms Model 1885 chambered for .333 Jeffery Flanged. Do you have any idea where I can get ammo for this?

I am new to this forum so I am sorry if I am doing something wrong!
Thank You!
