I rebarreled a Savage 111 with a Shaw 338-06 barrel. It was only after it was installed, headspaced, etc. that I noticed the barrel was not marked. I knew that would be a problem with the SAPS when I bring it with me next June to the Eastern Cape.

Fortunately, I am friends with the folks who run a large machining factory nearby and they had a laser engraving machine.

While the markings are a little larger than normal, it was done in the perfect font for a hunt in South Africa -- Zulu.

Sadly many otherwise good gunsmiths cant seem to stamp a barrel that doesnt look like a drunken hippo wasnt handed the stamp set!

Had a Mauser custom barreled to .35 Whelen once years ago and the stamp job looked the guy was at sea in a small boat in a 20' swell when he was stamping it!

I'm showing my age, but when I had my .30/.338 built back in the late '60's, that's the way it was marked. Later it became the .30 Chatfield-Taylor, and now, I see, it has aquired the new name. I never took it to Africa, but I killed everything I shot at with it in North America. I took my .300 H&H Model 70 Winchester to Africa because of ammunition availability. I have never regretted that choice.

Looks good. I've had jewelry shops engrave a barrel too.

I’ve got about 10 rifles that don’t have stamps, LGS just got a Laser Engraver and I’m going to get them all done so if I get hit by a train my kids know what the hell the rifles are chambered for. Yours looks great

Thanks. I didn't realize at first that it would be so large but I'm cool with it.

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is [redacted]. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
Boela Bekker.
