A dear friend named Jon Olsen pasted away in Sept 2021 of throat cancer. He was also a gunmaker who made my M98 .300 HH. With the last threads about the .300 HH I thought of pulling mine out. Jon only became 56 years of age. The gold inlayes most wait...well he made this gun in 2004-2006. It was the plan one day he would do the goldinlayes.....but like all good gunsmiths they always a have project..:LOL
JOn also made my .333Jeffery and some other guns for me back them.

Beautiful rifle and an outstanding tribute to a friend. I've recently started shooting/handloading for the 300 H&H. It's a grand cartridge that's sadly overlooked today. Sit back, look over your rifle with some scotish holy water and remember the time shared with a good friend.

Thanks.

Jon was a guy who always had projects going. This rifle will be a keeper.
We always talked about going hunting together but it will on the other side.

The rifle is made on a S42 action from 1937, Blackburn magazine, Shilen barrel, Recknagel boltshrout and sights.

I’ve got one in my possession built by a friend as well. Not as pretty as yours. It’s a treasure. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss, I lost a friend a few years ago from throat cancer. It was hard. Hunt in Africa with that rifle and know he will be there with you.

300HH simply one of the best 30 cal hunting calibers ever developed IMO.

Very nice. Sorry to hear of your friend’s passing. It appears a part of him hunts with you. ;) (y)
Enjoy.

Beautiful rifles! Nice tribute and sorry to hear the news.

Rigbymauser, I too purchase and shoot firearms with ties to departed friends. Somehow, I feel like they are still on the hunt with me. I never knew of him, but he obviously was a skilled gunmaker.

Condolences on your loss but congratulations on having such a fine keepsake to remind you of your friend. Thanks for sharing it with us.
