17' King Cobra

What always shocks me is how much bigger snakes in the Eastern half of the USA get. A western diamondback that is 6 feet is about as big as it is ever going to get. An eastern diamondback is just getting started.

Even bull snakes and coachwhips in the West are small by comparison to your snakes.

I attribute it to habitat. The western diamondback and other of the western rattle snakes live underground for the better part of the year, it is just to hot for them to come out to enjoy life. Where the eastern counterparts can be out side of the den sites finding and eating food.

But I can say for the bull/gopher snakes, I have seen quite a few in the 7 foot plus range and I have seen the racers in the 5 foot plus size and can get up to 8 foot.

I posted these pictures on my post about buying land.

We were there Sat clearing our land from all the overgrown stuff. Someone I hired was working around a bldg next to the trailer. My friend Willie came over with his tractor, but wanted to check the area. I was in front of him and saw it, I was one step away from stepping on this Timber Rattle Snake. Very close call if you ask me.

on the farm in the late 40,s and early 50,s my mother was the chief snake killer, copperheads and rattle snakes were the main ones and she used a hoe kept in the mud room (where you took your boots and close off with cow shit on them). she was a slender lady who looked like she would not kill a fly, but she was flint hard. and in later years we would all laugh about it, she passed in 2004 at 82. i think india has the most deaths due to snake bites.

This ain't going to be politically correct.

I would use a hoe to kill snakes as well.
I would stand back while she killed it.
The only way I handle snake is with a shotgun of any bore size, even the little 410 ( a highly regarded snake gun in Australia)

@ Para45
In Australia we have the 10 most venomous snakes in the world. Some may not be that big but they will kill you without proper medical attention. Our inland Taipan is the deadliest in the world. Fortunately it very timid but our king browns and tiger snakes can get very aggressive.

Well, shotguns will do it but maybe a bit scary if the snake is right at your feet. I happened to almost step on a water moccasin and when I blasted it almost straight downward, it BOUNCED about 5 1/2 feet. Cannot understand the dynamics of that bounce, but it almost came to eye level.

Yes sir, I am well aware, and I believe Australia the has the most venomous snakes in the world. Good thing the most venomous ones are timid and would normally avoid a fight and flee. This is a big Timber Rattle Snake for our region. Glad I still have good eye sight and didn't step on it. :ROFLMAO:

A few of us are old enough to remember the 22 rimfire "Garden Guns" that several companies built. They had smooth bores and could be used with s,l, or lr bullets or snake shot shells. Anything giving you trouble in your garden was fair game for one of those guns.

A bite from that and you'd have thought the tick bite was just a common mosquito bump!

:ROFLMAO: My wife said I need to stop going outdoors :ROFLMAO:

My wife knows I go ape sh*t during the non hunting months. She tells me I’m not the same. :ROFLMAO:

Henry still makes a nice one, my dad uses one for shooting sparrows and starlings off his feeders.

I have seen a very large one at Corbett National Park in India. There seems to be to be quite a few of them.

Together with an Indian partner from a town bordering Corbett NP we offer Corbett NP tours plus 'man-eater tours‘. In other words we visit the places where Jim Corbett had killed man-eating tigers and leopards. Last time we went to Mohan and Rudraprayag. Unforgetable adventures.
Munnik,
I am interested in your tours can you contact me?

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!
