Just sharing another load recipe hopefully to the benefit of some future reader. I think I've found the load for my son's rifle for our trip to HartzView next year.

I followed the Swift loading manual for 165gr A-Frames loading up RL15 and Varget from 44.5gr up to the max loading of 46.5gr. All loads shot right at an inch or under except for the 46.5gr load of RL15 in the pic below. I bought a chronograph this week and the shots from the three shots on this load measured at:

2731 fps
2754 fps
2760 fps

This is out of a 22" barrel, rifle is a Tikka T3 that I'm strongly considering stealing from my son. This rifle has been such a dream to work up loads for.

A rifle that shoots differant loads well is a joy to own. How is your son taking the recoil? 2700fps is a respectable velocity for 308.

He's doing fine overall, no complaints of a sore shoulder. I have seen a few times where he seems to be anticipating the shot. I had him at the range today practicing and kept him to 10 shots. I didn't see anything in those to be concerned about. We did a bunch of dry firing during the week off of the sticks and I think that helped.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
