100 Pounder Elephant hunted in Zambia

This magnificent 100 pounder was shot about a week ago in Zambia.

Do you know if they have an actual weight yet? Some on another forum thought they might be too thin to hit 100lbs. It shouldn't really matter as its a fantastic bull anyway you look at it. Congrats to the hunter and the client. Bruce

Last i heard was about 80 per side, but again not official measurements, just guesses and opinions.

Yep and I have no doubt they are 100#+ weights on those. The picture of the hunter standing in between them would lead me to think they are 19" or better around and the dark exposed areas were 5 1/2 feet long which comes up to just over 100 pounds each.
Man what must it have been like to hunt this animal.

It didn't make 100 lbs. Think the report right now is as PeteG says...just under 80.

Beautiful ivory!

From a layman's perspective, I too have a hard time believing it is under 80 lbs.

Yes the bottom 1/3 is tapered. Possibly it is a humongous nerve cavity. Perhaps a cross section of the ivory is more oblong than round. But, those are massive tusks!

May this old elephant's genes spread up and down the Luangwa!

Great trophy, but I could have never shot that elephant. (1) The trophy fee on that much ivory is beyond my ability. (2) My wife & daughter would kill me. (3) I don't think seeing an elephant that big I could hold the gun still enough to even pull the trigger.
