Not at all...Trump said he had no idea what Wikileaks is. "Not my thing" except two years ago he "loved" it.

When you get old, one of the benefits is selective memory. Actually it's a privilege not understood until one reaches that time of life.:LOL:

Wouldn’t be surprised if Assange was a topic in the private meeting in Helsinki.

Assange wasn’t happy the way Clinton screwed Sanders in the primary. Clinton was going to win general election. He was trying to undermine her, and America.

Trump threw a spanner into the works.

I am not a lawyer, but I am not sure how the US case can be prosecuted against him. Sure, he “published” a lot of classified material, but that was, it appears, stolen by others - much like a newspaper publishing the Pentagon Papers. Unless he actually hacked a computer, I would think it a tough case to make with all sorts of potential freedom of the press baggage.

Understand your point completely.

Two things make me think the USA has a case against Assange:
1. The arrest yesterday and probable extradition. Would Barr/Rosenstein along with DOS really want to jump through all the hoops to do this if they didn't think they had a winnable case. They certainly don't want a free Assange roaming around on American soil trying to find embarrassing tidbits here and there.
2. If I recall correctly, the general consensus was that Bradley Manning didn't have the capabilities to get into at least one of the databases or portion of a database he exposed without help. There has been speculation that Assange or people within Wikileaks helped on at least one database. If this is provable, it may reinforce point one.

It is extremely interesting that Manning was pardoned for the crimes he was convicted of. It kind of makes a person wonder if there is a reason behind the pardon.

With the appointment of Barr, it seems that a massive book has just been opened. A book with many hidden secrets on many hidden pages that were never supposed to be exposed. We are now looking at the preface. As each page is turned.........

As I say, if they can prove he hacked .......

And I absolutely agree with that last paragraph. After the house hearing, Dems and media are working overtime to try and discredit him.

my understanding is they arent charging him with hacking.. they are charging him with conspiracy...

assange conspired with manning to hack USG computers.. and then coached manning on how to actually do it.. which ultimately lead to manning hacking the USG and then giving the documents he obtained through the hack to assange, who then published them..

not saying I agree with it..

just saying that is the angle of attack being used (I think)..

I'm not sure Assange being put in an American prison is the primary goal. Possibly Assange trading freedom for cooperation is. ie: who was the point of contact on the DNC server. I am not saying Seth Rich was the guy, but if he was, the rabbit hole takes a strange twist.

The other side is, Assange has proven he is willing to spend years confined.

If the Fed's want to crucify someone, the real criminals in this case, are Barrack Obama, and Bradley Manning. AKA....Chelsey Manning, or whatever it calls itself.

I don't condone stealing classified information, but Assange making the Democrats look like the idiots they are, is a bonus.

i agree with that....

but...

assuming he did in fact commit conspiracy and his act meets all of the elements of the crime.. he needs to be brought to the US to stand trial..

we cant pick and chose who we want to try for what... what he did is either right.. or its wrong...

selective enforcement of the law just leads to others doing the same thing later when it isnt a bonus to the republicans.. and using the fact that we didnt prosecute assange will become the defense..

dont get me wrong.. I find it appalling that manning received a 35 year sentence and then had his sentence commuted after only 7 years by Obama himself.. that alone tells you everything you need to know about this case IMO..

i just dont think we should let assange off the hook just because we like the end result of what he did.. (illegal is illegal after all...)..

Seems like this subject needs it's own thread.

I agree with both of these posts
