A = Problem Hippo hunts: Umlilo Safaris does NOT offer this type of hunt
this is the cheapest hippo hunts on offer in SA
hunted mainly at night only
the size and gender of hippo cannot be guaranteed at all prior to the booked hunt or even during the hunt
often in crop fields of local villages, close to local native people/settlements, close to rivers
most likely to be rogue hippo that came out of Kruger Park.
100% of the time the PHs will fire back-up shots as soon as client has fired (so you dont know if you or who has killed it)
if wounded the hippo could get back into the river/easy disappear into the nights darkness, then you have to return at daylight to track, follow-up, search.
client fire a shot: full price payable regardless
Normally needing anything up to 5 nights.....and often long driving hours on main roads at night time
B = Game Reserve Hippo hunts: Umlilo Safaris offer this type of hunt
hunted only in day time
hippos are resident in lakes on private game reserve land
bulls & cows are hunted, client decides at time of booking the hunt
often 1st shot occurs while hippo is on land, we always aim/try to make this happen
(last month 2 clients dropped their respective hippo's on land meters from the lake's water-edge with brain shots)
PH's do NOT shoot at client's hippo at all (unless animal is charging less than 10 meters)
if wounded, hippo would enter the lake, with 100% chance to have follow-up shots = ultimately finding/killing own animal
Normally needing only 2 days/3 nights max (if client wants first shot to be on land)
