Hello all, after reading so much on this forum about Blaser rifles I’m considering making the switch. It’s a pain pulling Pelican double rifle cases through the airport, sometimes 2 cases as wife, @DeadEyeDickless, also hunts. Might add third barrel for smaller game. Advice, recommendations, potential pitfalls to be aware, reasonable price for used or new setup, what additional equipment is needed, QD mounts, proprietary or other make?
I appreciate your feedback.

This IMHO, is the easy button. 300/375 and you are set. One case. You could (if you really wanted) go with 1 scope and mount. I would prefer two, one with a bit more magnification for the 300.

Both will use the same bolt hear so thats another block checked.

Once you spend some time behind the Blaser you will quickly understand why it is such a good choice.

I use a number of different rifles because they are such a pleasure to use. But when it comes to an international destination, there is no debate and I grab the short case and an R8. The standard mount is dismountable. I would urge you to dedicate a scope to each barrel. You could move scopes between barrels, but the click count can go wrong pretty easily. The ergonomics, the action, the short overall length with full size chamberings, and that wonderful trigger will leave you wondering what took so long.

the only real question here is, whats taking so long go? and buy it already

its a great setup and the calibres you have chosen go well together

i like heavier guns so i would take the 22mm barrels in this setup, but each to his own

I don't believe that I've ever read a thread on this site that discouraged someone from buying a new rifle.

Of course, you should!

You could also look at the Blaser' step-sister the Sauer 505 if you would prefer a traditional bolt, Same switch barrel capability, same scope mounts as the Blaser, every bit as good a rifle.

I have the earlier Sauer 404 version. Can't recommend the Sauer enough.

I purchased this set up for both my son and myself, again recommend the use of a dedicated scope for each barrel, the pack nicely for travel.

In total we have quite a Blaser R8 collection!

Noah,
I might be interested in the 470 Woodleigh Softs if the price is right for the entire lot. Are you planning on going to the Tulsa Gunshow in November? If so, perhaps we could meet up.
