NAMIBIA: September 2026 Hunting Report, Namibia Hunt With KHOMAS HIGHLAND HUNTING SAFARIS, Philip Hennings

Great hunt! Do you know/remember what species of francolin/spurfowl they had there?

Nice writeup.

Your trip to the coast had me remembering our trips to the coast.

I highly recommend seeing Etosha the next time you are there.

You might also think about leopard as a target animal for your next Namibia adventure.

Congrats and thanks for sharing!

I believe they were Red‑billed spurfowl. Extremely fast and very difficult to see. They mostly just ran along the ground like a roadrunner. I had not shot a shotgun in 25 years and so the few I killed were not running or flying. I am a bad shot, and Juan was not much better. Sorry Juan, the truth hurts. Meep, Meep!

Great hunt, congrats !

.

A question I have - not about the hunt but rather the CT experience. How did you get cheated by the Uber if payment runs via the App & the price is fixed up front?

Would be interested to find out how so that I & other Uber users are aware of the scam. Thanks

.

I could not use the app because my phone would not connect to the network. So, I found an Uber driver at the airport and asked him to take us to the lodge. He swiped my debit card and charged me $300 Namibian dollars, but when I looked at my banking app it was for over $1000 USD for Jewelry. First mistake was not using the app, second mistake was not paying in cash which I had, third mistake was not immediately checking my bank app. I will not make that mistake again.

I have traveled the world for 45+ years and never been scammed. I disputed the charges and we will see what happens. I have not got the money back yet.

Afton Safari Lodge usual driver says this is a huge scam it the Cape Town airport. He said the police won't do anything about it and everyone knows it goes on. My advice is to contact Afton Safari Lodge or your lodging preference and pre-arrange an airport pickup or use the Uber app.

If you use the Uber app, I don't think you can be scammed!

I hope to heck that is not the Klippy I was going back for! Congrats on your hunt.
I messaged Juan... that is the Klippy that we saw during my hunt... I planned to go back for him... congrats again, that is a special animal.

Thanks for the great report. Going next year with Khomas, similar list except no Warthog and will be chasing the Dik-Dik and a Kudu. The bird shooting sounds like a lot of fun so hopefully will have some time for it.

Namibia has become in many ways my home away from home. Hartmann zebra has easily been one of my favorite hunts. Klippies are severely underrated as a trophy species. Yours is just magnificent. I too was blessed with an old Khomas Highland ram with great secondary growth, but not nearly so long in the horn.

Do yourself the favor of traveling to Etosha. It’s a bit of a jaunt up there, but well worth the effort. Being on the ground with a rhino feeding only a few feet away….. seeing hundreds of animals at a waterhole, watching lions breed…… many great memories from that place.

I’ll be headed back soon with dreams of dikdik, hyena, roan….. and who knows what else. :)

Juan, shot pretty good when we went for Guineas...

Good morning from Montana.

I'm looking at a post from 2018 where you were looking for a lefty Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum. I'm selling mine. My email is [redacted] in the event that you're still searching for a unicorn.

Best,

Kelly Palmer

Good Evening. I am very interested in you hunt for the spiral slam. March in 2028 would be fine for me

Couple of quick questions:

1) Can we add some additional species on
2) what do you want for a deposit?
3) how do you want me to sign up

I'm on whats app or email
