thank you very much for your detailed comments. I could certainly argue with some of your points, but unfortunately my English isn’t good enough for that.
Fortunately, I’ve never had the “pleasure” of dealing with a $10 USD prostitute.
But I myself (on a very small scale) and the people around me who are or were professionally successful have actually all made it to the top by following the example of capable people. No one ever put the toe of their boot on their necks and tried to stomp them into the mud.
If it’s true how soldiers are trained at Parris Island (as depicted in *Full Metal Jacket*, for example—Gunnery Sergeant Hartmann, brilliantly portrayed), then I can only comment on the difference compared to the
SS and Wehrmacht soldiers of that era, based on eyewitness accounts I’ve heard.
(We agree—Nazis were scum too), but in military combat, they were greatly feared and efficient.
The drill was also incredibly tough, but the motivation worked differently than it does for you guys.
You were a child of the Führer, and you don’t spit a Führers child in the face of or beat up people like that.
Your mother wasn’t some cheap whore either (because a German woman back then was fundamentally not one—that trait was foreign to her:giggle::giggle: ).
What I’m trying to say is—there’s another way.

But here on AH, it really depends on who’s doing it.
Whenever @Ontario Hunter speaks up—bravely swimming against the tide, refusing to be discouraged, and taking a lot of flak—the M16 is immediately loaded.

Trump is the obnoxious jerk at the company party who still gets his kicks from junior high humor.

The main stream media takes the bait. The Democrats take the bait. The media in western countries take the bait. The citizens of western countries take the bait.

As long as everyone takes the bait he will continue the act.

Canada is not becoming the 51st state. Greenland is not being forcefully annexed. The moon isn’t sovereign American soil.

Most Americans in the center and right understand this and aren’t worried because we ignore the act while occasionally laughing at the bedlam he creates.

Germany has been the beneficiary of one side trade with America for 80 years since the Marshall Plan was instituted. Trump has been on a drive to ballance the trade. Do you think it’s possible the German media you see is biased in all things regarding Trump.

The west was on suicide watch with unlimited immigration from the low end unvetted of the third world. Trump has been the first western leader to act on this. Do you think it’s possible the German media you see is biased in all things regarding Trump.

Is it possible the western media gets more eyeballs and advertising euros from selling outrage. Life is much simpler when a person ignores the junior high humor and just focus on what Trump is actually doing/trying to do.

This Political Forum is a lot more entertaining when we talk about policy, politics, economics, war etc. than when it dissolves into a diatribe over an individual who gets his kicks from junior high humor.

There are a lot of different perspectives on this topic. Since I’m stuck in a lounge in Doha waiting for a flight to Zambia, and have too much time on my hands (as you can tell from the long post above!), let me add my two cents.

When I was a young lawyer just out of school, I worked along side and opposite senior lawyers, many of whom were complete jerks, difficult, egocentric, etc., but to a man (no women then!), very successful. I began to think one was a necessary condition to the other.

Then I worked opposite a senior lawyer with a national reputation in Canada. I was intimidated. But he was unfailingly polite and thoughtful. At one point I thought he’d made a mistake in something he’d said in a meeting, but of course, I didn’t raise it then. I spoke to him afterwards, not without trepidation. His response? “You know what, you’re right!”. When the meeting reconvened, he announced to all present (who included representatives of both our clients) that he had made a mistake in what he said previously, and that I had pointed it out to him during the break. He certainly didn’t have to do that.

Over time, I came to understand that the assholes were often successful in spite of their attitude, not because of it. You could be as, or likely more, successful, without the attitude.

To quote that famous philosopher, King Louis XVIII (!), “punctuality is the politeness of kings.”

Well he is kinda the President of the United States and all.

But I understand the desire of many Americans to ignore the fact their President is a man of very poor character, dishonest, and acting so badly.

Perhaps we should talk about his socialist policies that many Democratic Socialists are literally saying they plan to imitate.

US Marines are made at Parris Island and San Diego, not soldiers. Marines are transformed from the civilian slime that first stood on the yellow footprints.
Soldiers are trained at US Army facilities.

Rarely?..... there are people on this forum where nearly every post is Trump hatred and often(not always) about things that are more imagined than real.

There has to be balance and I ask you this, is it that so many people idolize Trump or is it the case where certain people have such blind hatred for Trump that anything other than a direct insult about him or direct criticism of him is seen as an afront to their entire world?

Definitely sounds like incompetent pilots. Good thing they aren't piloting passengers.
The aircraft belongs to a subcontractor air shipping company that Amazon pays to put their name on the plane and transport cargo.
Makes me wonder who will ultimately be held liable?

Both extremes are in abundance here and in society in general. That’s the problem. It’s becoming very hard to give credit to or criticism of our politicians. If they’re in our “tribe” then anything they do is inspired. If not, everything they do is criminal. I reserve the right to call balls and strikes as I see them.

There is no need to replace all of the trade with the United States. But the current U.S. government has made the United States a less reliable partner and ally and thus we need to become less reliant on them.

The restrictions on trade is in the current agreement too, and NAFTA. It was to prevent Chinese goods being passed off as Canadian. Well, that is exactly what has happened. We are guilty as charged.

When John Turner warned a doubting electorate that free trade would gut our industrial base and undermine our sovereignty , tariffs were routinely in place between US and Canada. Now, as Turner predicted, our industrial base has left and we can’t sustain tariffs. The USA is no more unreliable today than they were in the 1980s, but successive policies encouraging the use of overseas cheap labour/ slave labour/ child labour has gutted our industrial base and undermined our sovereignty. Those tariffs are now threatening to us and somehow that is the fault of the USA? John Turner must be somewhere, smirking, and muttering “I told you so”

Doug Ford is a Liberal in a lot of ways, primarily his lack of accountability. Remember Mulroney recalling Parliament? Not the Carney YouTube avoid Parliament and the press at all costs style that Ford shares. What did Rob Ford say, that his brother had a little communist in him or something like that.

The Liberals insight their base to preserve power - fear has worked well for them. Carney uses the term “war” not the USA. Pollievre has said consistently, and correctly, that the policies that have undermined our business is the problem. Thankfully, Carney poached a bunch of his stuff and stabilized the decline that is Canada. Let’s see if he takes more from Pierre and turns this economy around.

Right. I should be happy about ending the life of a beautiful animal. It was a challenging contest. I won, it lost. End of story. I'm relieved these animals didn't suffer (well, the impala required followup). But relieved is different than happy. I'll give my victims the respect they deserve.

Oh, I know exactly who Perfesser Dontario Knee Shooter is. An old, deluded white guy, self-absorbed and full of hate from some imaginary injustice foisted on him in the past. A real chameleon, who claims no country nor allegiance save his own venomous self-pity. Not dissimilar to many old, burned-out hippies I’ve run into over the years. In the US, he claims some connection to Montana, so plenty of distance away… I hope to stay far away from this peach. Also, exactly the type who always claim some Cherokee ancestry… they’re a dime a dozen ;)

Do you have any recommendations for 1 or 2 day hunt near Cooktown?

I've hunted both DG and PG in 4 different countries in Africa.
