Mine comes in some trips with me and we make it a mix of hunting and stuff for her to do.

Other times I know it's time to go hunting because she starts suffering from g'out.
To put it in non medical terms she sees I'm getting moody or restless and starting to annoy her. It's time to go bush and hunt when she starts saying G'OUT.
G'OUT is the shortened version of get out.

It's obvious your wife doesn't like the finer things in life like a nice vacuum or flash skillet.
At least the vacuum wouldn't hurt as much as that cast iron frying pan if'n she hit you with it so you made a wise choice.

Maybe next time you could be a bit more romantic and take her to one of those fine Scottish restaurants (aka MacDonalds)for a fancy meal
Come on Paul I think you need to up your game and show her how much you appreciate her.

I appreciate my first wife because she left.
My 2nd one was a real treasure, I just wanted to bury her. While I was away she thought foreplay was her and three others. So endeth that lesson

The current one I've been with 25 years and love her deeply and really appreciate her. Even when she gets G'OUT.

She still makes my heart beat fast and a day never passes without me telling her that I love her.
Even though I have known in the past some exceptional women, mine is the most interesting, conservative, charismatic and magnetic one I have ever met.
I would rather be alone again than to be with another woman.

Not only does she remain quite good looking now in her mid 60’s but, she is preparing to retire from her 2nd career, continuing with a locomotive work ethic to the very end.
Plus, she is compassionate toward good people who may be suffering from whatever torments them.
She cared for my mother during the several years that dementia eventually took her life at age 99.
She is the Osa Johnson of my life.

My wonderful wife is the reason I’m getting to go on my first safari next year. When we were talking about finances last year for buying land and building a house, she told me we have the money now, and we will be paying off the house for decades anyway, just go ahead and do it. She’s the love of my life for many reasons, and this is the cherry on top. Another thing she likes is that I’ll be 28 when I go, and my oldest will be 3, so our kids will get to grow up hearing about Africa (and hopefully wanting to go themselves)

Ah the vagaries of the young
28 was a long time ago for me. We were still calling Africa the dark continent when I was in school, Sri Lanka was still called Ceylon and it was east and west Pakistan. Dang I even remember when JFK was assisinated and man first walked on the moon.

My own relationship with my ex wife was miserable & volatile. But I developed a lifelong bond with an amazing woman who was my secretary from 1972 to 2005. I often regret not pursuing a romantic relationship with her when we were both young.

She was Catholic (being of mixed Portuguese & Bengali heritage) and I was a divorced Muslim guy with two kids. At that time, religious stigma in our part of the world was still a huge problem. I didn’t think her family would ever accept me. Similarly, she never thought that my kids or family could ever accept her. And she knew that my kids were my life.

Eventually, she married a nice accountant whom her dad arranged her to marry. After her marriage, I found out that my kids & parents actually really liked her and would have happily accepted her as part of the family. And obviously, we would never even think of asking her to convert to Islam or anything.

Years later, after we both became grandparents... She also told me that her family really liked me and would have happily accepted me into their midst.

We're still very close friends (and I'm quite friendly with her husband too) and we see each other at least once a week and speak on the phone every day. I'm at a good place with her.

But sometimes, I wonder what might have been if I had put a ring on that hand when we were both young.

She accompanied me on several of my foreign hunts over the years. After I became an MP (Member Of Parliament), I made her the headmistress of the University named after me.

Now that’s funny!!! I buy guilt expensive purses versus jewelry (same expensive principle)
 
My wife is not a hunter but loves all our hunting dogs and enjoyed our first safari. It was important that my daughters grew up hunting and understand it and conservation.

To add a more serious note to my earlier post. My wife typically goes with me on most of my hunts. Some of our fondest memories are out in the field. There is no one I’d rather hunt with or be with.

She grew up in far west Texas on a ranch with the Rio Grande visible out the back of the house. She shot rabbits every morning and evening for the ranch dogs to eat. Needless to say, years of shooting rabbits turned her into a highly proficient shooter. She is a better shot than I am, I just practice more these days. She would tag along with me to matches and participate sometimes.

If we want our partners and kids to enjoy shooting and hunting, give them guns and scopes at least as good as what we use ourselves. If we give them cheap equipment, they recognize it and what message does that send to them?

One of my great memories was when she won a precision shooting match. She won the match on the last shot beating a retired Marine Sergeant. He was pissed (at himself) to be beaten by a woman. :giggle:

Here is one of my favorite photos of her, a picture of her shooting her 15# rifle, custom built for her, offhand firing ten shots at the 200 yard line in a match long ago. (Two or three minute time limit). This photo makes me smile when hunters say they cannot shoot an 8# rifle offhand.

lol…are you guys running for political office? Sorry could not resist, my wife gets even with expensive purses and island trips but so nice to see some nice posts
 
Just 2 weeks ago my wife, Sue, asked me "when are we going hunting in Africa again?"
Married nearly 7 years, we are both 1957 babies and she has been a shooter and hunter for 4 years.
Sue never questions my hunting and is always keen to tag along with her beloved 308, as long as its not too cold!!
