Report Scam in AH Classifieds

I just had an interaction with this user who responded to a WTB ad I placed for a Blaser R8 barrel.

Luckily I had just purchased a complete rifle and my need was no longer there. Suggest that he is shut down ASAP.

Same response from multiple forums.

This number called me to buy a M77, the rifle and member he's trying to scam has the 220 swift listed for sale. Be aware and admin put this where it needs to go! I'm so sick of the scams here, it makes doing any deal fishy unless you know them or have had transactions in the past.

He called me and ask if I was ready to proceed. And I knew right then it was a scam, I ask what caliber and he was fumbled lol. I'll go back and find the OP in a few. And let you know all info I have.

Boredrill is the one there trying to scam his rifle.

Boredrill had a Ruger #1 in 45-70 for sale. I DM'd him asking him to call me which he did, I told him that I wasn't interested in the scope and he immediately lowered the price to $800.00 which set me back a bit, hell of a deal ? Asked him where he lived, he said FLA. his area code was for LA. Would only take cashiers check or electronic payment. I backed out. But almost fell for another scam, again.

Just a heads up on another scam. I have a "wanted" listing on here (for a Contender barrel in 45 Colt). I got a PM from someone telling me his buddy has one for sale and gave me his email address. The PM has since disappeared - somehow.

So I send this dipshit - Willy Vargason - an email asking about his barrel. His response made it immediately apparent that it was a scam - poor grammar, description of items from someone who obviously doesn't know guns, etc.

Just an FYI. His email is willyvargasonjrb17@gmail.com.

I got a message yesterday from a member asking if I take PayPal with no other inquiry, however the account had no messages or reactions in 5 years. Reported it.

All I can say to people on both ends of a transaction is to pick up the phone. I’ve done a bit of buying and selling here recently and everyone that I’ve talked to has been great. I’ve gotten the heebies from folks on other sites before, but you can generally ascertain that in short order with a call.

My rule for classifieds. You won’t talk on phone no deal, selling or buying.


Also if anyone ever sees a classified ad with my name on it and it doesn’t look or sound right. Text or call me! Most of you have my number

SCAM ALERT: User Name "Buhog"


I was very nearly a victim of a scam from a member on here. I want everyone to know 1) the user name, but 2) more importantly the MO he used because he will no doubt change user name and keep doing it.

I recently posted a classified ad regarding WTB 0.358 bullets for a rifle project. I received a DM from user name Buhog. He said had a few boxes of A-Frame .358 280gr bullets to sell me. I pursed this offer in good faith, and then he also reported he also had a few boxes of 250gr A-Frames to sell me. We agreed on a deal for all 8 boxes. He asked that I send him a USPS money order to a certain name and address. I was nearly going to the post office over lunch when I googled the information he provided me. Turns out numerous outdoor related forums reported a nearly similar scam. The information he uses as a ruse is below:

He asked that I send him a photo of the mail order so he can "keep an eye on it".

After discovering numerous similar reports, I of course have corresponded with law enforcement in his county to report financial fraud. We will see how they respond as I continue to push full prosecution. I will exhaust all possible avenues to bring consequences to this person.

Just a heads up for anyone corresponding with Buhog. Some of the other forum posts I found had him replying under other usernames mocking the people reporting him, so be warned anyone contacting you under "WTB" posts are brazen and have no fear of consequences (at the moment at least).

After getting pissed and disappointed in humanity, I am actually mostly let down that I don't have 4 boxes of 0.358 280's and 4 boxes of 250's headed my way. Which in hindsight was too good to be true. The search for 0.358" premium bullets goes on.

Anyway, keep your heads on a swivel. Sorry to report this activity as I think this is mostly a decent forum with good members.

It’s pretty simple that way.
You would have found out a lot quicker.

Thanks a lot for the tip. I’m sure he would have immediately divulged his intent over phone. Of course there’s things I could have done better. If you have foolproof methods, please publish a short whitepaper so others can be as resilient as you against these type scams
